PB 4x4 features ART's "4x4" distribution on the back of the unit -- four of the eight rear outputs are 1.25 inches apart. This allows the user to plug in wide power cables and multiple wall wart devices, and still have eight total power outlets to choose from.

Built into the PB 4x4 is a Surge and Spike Protection System, designed to protect powered equipment from harmful electric surges and spikes. The unit also has RFI and EMI filtering.

The PB 4x4 also features a front-located on/off power switch (which lights up when turned on), and a front-mounted circuit breaker reset switch. The unit has a total power capacity of 1800 watts, and has a front-mounted, 15 amp circuit breaker.

The rugged, all-steel chassis occupies 1U rack spaces and is intended for installation into standard 19" equipment racks. Applications for the PB 4x4 include Live Sound Systems/PA, Permanent or Fixed Installations, Church, Club and Practice PA Systems, DJ Sound Systems, Home and Project Recording Systems, and Monitor Systems.

The PB 4x4 features a one-year warranty

I own 3 of these. Each of them at some point have had their front power switch fail (always on, or always off). In addition to the inconvenience and cost of getting these replaced, it may also be a potential fire hazard.
Good product except for the power switch. I wish better components were used. Do not buy unless you have a steady supply of powers switches and expertise to replace them. The cost of paying a tech to service is prohibitive. They essentially become disposable. If you switch it on and off frequently then be prepared to also replace the unit frequently.

Just bought this at the Danforth store.I do voice over and commercial production and lately had been picking up RFI and and just bad power - Lots of noise. Brought the unit home plugged everything in and... silence. Beautiful. For what I'm using it for, it's perfect.

Great power conditioner for a reasonable price. Has certainly made a huge difference in my little home studio setup, since I have so much noise coming from the power outlets in my apt when I plug direct in. Also gives me peace of mind to know that my entire recording setup (comp, interfaces, monitors, amps, etc) is well protected from power surges. This lil unit is worth the money, great deal.

I bought this unit to get rid of the noise in my power coming in my rack, and it works like a charm. No longer having noise issues. At first I was going to get the more expensive ones with the meters on the front, but those are the only extra features for a big chunk of money extra. This 55$ unit is the exact same as the more expensive 4x4 units aside from the front meters and lights.

I bought this today at Long & McQuade because I was having a weird sine / distortion sound coming through my cabinet from my Mesa Boogie Mark V. I was worried it might be a tube problem since on the clean channel I was hearing some distortion coming through and on the dirty I was hearing a weird surge of volume and noise at some points, so, after a lot of internet searching, I decided to pick one up and try it out (I love their return policy, never let me down yet) and VOILA! Everything is nice and quiet and I eliminated 2 (2!) power bars from my setup. I have my display, KRK Rokit 5 monitors, Mac Mini, Mesa Mark V, & my T.C. Electronic G-Force connected to the unit and its running flawless and sounding better! Buy it if you're in doubt. I didn't realize how much interference I was having until I heard it through this.

Great little unit. Unless you live under a lightening rod this thing should keep your gear from getting sizzled. This is my second ART purchase in the past week and I am really liking the quality for price paid.

As another reviewer stated, the attached power cord is a pain. I don't like coiling power cables up into the rack, I'd rather have a plug for a stand power cord like most other equipment. Also, having one outlet on the front would have been nice without having to upgrade to the next model that costs twice as much.

Not bad, great for the price. Need to get something else though and the power cable on the unit is hard wired and very short. Worked great when I had just a 410 cab but now when its sitting on top on of a double stack or an 810 the cable doesn't even reach the ground. Its been an issue on a few stages, just need a longer plug in and it would be fine.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
