Small enough to fit in your pocket, the BOSS MICRO BR BR-80 is the ultimate new portable recording and jam-along tool for guitarists and other musicians.

It's equipped with three modes to create, record and perform your music: an eight-track MTR (Multi-Track Recorder) mode, an eBand mode for onstage backing tracks and phrase training and a Live Rec mode for instantly capturing high-quality stereo recordings. You can even combine the three modes seamlessly. Record your phrase ideas using Live Rec mode, for example and then import the recordings into MTR mode to use as foundations for song production. Once you've added tracks, import your finished songs into eBand mode for backing-track accompaniment at the gig. The MICRO BR BR-80 is truly a must-have for all musicians!

Saw the glittering adverts from Boss - Looks like exactly what I need to record quick demo songs! First attempt, strange I can't see to even get a drum track to play. When I try to navigate to different patterns i get 'Protected' message. Back to YouTube - watch the demo video - Got it - looks so easy! Back to the BR80 - did exactly what I saw - after an hour I couldn't get a simple drum track to play - seems like it is a drum track editor (build your own) rather than choose a drum track. Read the manual - no idea what it means on this topic. Let me contrast this manual with the manual for my new BOSS Katana 100W Guitar Amp - I read the manual in 6 minutes - I didn't need to - its obvious how to operate it. Back to the BR80 -The eband worked as advertised - great sound - fun to play along - obvious how to use it. There is no power adapter - the two AA batteries were done in an hour. The jog wheel would only turn when forced then jumps several steps of whatever I'm trying to pick. I found the controls very small and fiddly, the menu's and selection operations not-intuitive at all. Some years ago I used the BOSS BR1600 - that was a dream machine and I created many complex great sounding tracks. The BR80 is heading back to the store - I could not get anything useful out of it. I'm a Systems Programmer by trade - how embarrassing (actually, it should be embarrassing for BOSS, not for me!) - LOL! I'm returning The BR80 for the BR800 - it looks to run the same software but is bigger and has more hardware controls that should make it easier to operate. I still choose BOSS for recording because they have the best effects and can make a track sound professional without Outboard editing. Good luck with the BR80!

The digital recording features of this product are what make the product valuable to me. It also has an eband mode which adds backing tracks you can play along with. Cheesy as heck 80s tracks that make me sound like Van Halen and laugh like crazy when I play along with them. Not an important feature, or selling point for me. Multitrack recording is infinite if you choose to bounce tracks down which is easy to do, and just makes sense. As an interface it didn't even work on my pc AMD chipset? Idk... Not important since latency blows , and that's why I bought a independent digital recorder anyway. USB transfer of tracks to your pc is easy. Lots of built in effects, mostly 80sish metal junk, but you will find some fairly decent quality effects you can use. My only issue is the fragile build quality. I'm not sure how long it will last, and imagine the scroll wheel will be the first thing to go. Also, if you want to use an AC adapter, you need to order a special one with a negative center pin, otherwise if you just use a regular 9v adapter, you will damage the unit. It doesn't come with the adapter, batteries might last 3/4 of the day of constant use MAX, so you will need lots of AAs if you don't by the adapter off ebay or wtv. This unit would not survive a single drop onto the ground either, so that's why it lost quality points. Be careful with it. It does what it's supposed too, but could be sturdier, and maybe a little less tacky. If they rebuilt it more like a traditional boss pedal, it'd be awesome. Digital Multitrack recorder foot pedal? Hey, there's a cool idea :) Demos on my YouTube channel recorded with the BR 80 https://www.youtube.com/user/arwyt

I bought the BR-80 mainly for practice. Playing along with the eBand is a lot of fun. The easy to use recording features make the little BR a great tool for recording your guitar playing and critiquing it afterwards.

Best musical investment I have made since my first guitar. I have used so many different multi-track devices from analog tapes to computer interfaces and nothing matches this for simplicity and power. You can make a song in hours! All of these recorded with ONE guitar and the BR-80 (including bass tracks): http://www.soundcloud.com/softmelon

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
