Excellent sounding guitar, very beautiful finish on it, binding, rosette, too much to mention but it's all perfect. Sounds very sweet. Make sure you keep it humidifier, those planet waves packs are great for this. I'm glad I got mine when I did, I have the traditional headstock. If you look on lapatrie website they changed it, it has a Wierd curve /bump.... I don't like it. Should not have changed that. So I better take good care of mine as it won't be made like that anymore. The picture on long and McQuade website shows the older version that I have. As for electronics, the tuner is great. I never tried it plugged in, so I can't tell you how it sounds through and amp.

I was looking for something to replace a basic classical that was older than me. I wanted something that I could gig with as well record into a mic with. It would have to be best in both worlds. I didn't have a ton of cash and I thought I was asking too much for a cutaway with a pre amp for less than $1000. And if I did find something like that it probably wouldn't sound that great plugged in or unplugged. Then I saw reviews for these guitars and honestly they aren't lying. This thing sounds just as good as my father Ramirez that he paid $2500 for. La Patrie is under the Godin brand and handmade in Quebec. So right there you save on duty and intercontinental shipping costs. It has a thin neck but very sturdy. Clean amp sound. Smooth machine head. And nobs for a strap, which I needed to play live. Easy to play. Sounds pop out. all solid wood. To be fair and if I were to find ONE thing to complain about, it doesn't come with a custom case, which given its quality I really believe it should have.

I just bought this guitar at the Sydney outlet. I played this guitar head to head with a Yamaha NTX 700 and after a shortv demo of each, the choice was absolutely clear....the LaPatrie concert classical guitar is a quality instrument... well worth the price tag of $649. I was surprised at the Yamaha being $10 more, it didn't have the acoustic volume that La Patrie had. Also the NTX had a weird overtone sound when I fretted a note on the 3rd fret. Fancy looking guitar if you want to buy a guitar for looks. Me I chose sound quality and craftsmanship.

For less then a grand you get a full solid wood Mahogany guitar just to start with. Neck is thin and easy because of the cross road and make this guitar a classical looking but very modern indeed. The guitar sound just soft touching the string, I tried med tension stings and it's just amazing. The best of it is when you put in an amplifier, no comparison with any other model I tried, it's just superior. I am using one of those fishman at home an it is really enjoyable If you are a pure flamenco or a pure classic guitarero... this is not the model for you. I have a Spanish classical as well and bass are much louder in a classic classic model compared to the la patrie but if you are looking to play a little of everything this is the model You would love. I play fingerpicking led zeppelin hendrix pick Floyd queen I just fall in love with classic so much that I play my metal string acoustic only when is strictly needed. Lastly, Godin really know how to build classic guitar, this model is exported everywhere, I did see it in Tokyo and in Europe.

Bought this guitar 2 years ago and have loved it so far. Recently brought it in to L&M as the action was getting wonky, the store sent the guitar to the tech who noticed a twist in the neck. Godin/La Patrie replaced it with a new one. The first guitar's sound had warm tones and i found it to be well balanced. Hoping the replacement plays just as well.

It has a great sound and the built in tuner is excellent and convenient. The cutaway is good for hitting the high notes and for solos. I am very impressed.

I have this guitar for 3 years now and it work very well plugged in an amp. The neck and action is very stable and easy to fret. However, acoustically this guitar is sound a bit dull and does not have the projection or the acoustic qualities you would expect for this price. If you look for a "latin jazz" type of sound this is for you, if you want a true classical guitar look at other models.

i have owned this guitar for 5 years, and it sounds great it is well balanced, beautiful low end and rich highs for the price it is a great value, the finish is nice and it is comfortable to play. i could do without the electronics, usually mic it in the studio, but have plugged it in and it sounds good. the built in tuner is very accurate also. it is also well built and has taken a few good knocks with minimal damage. i would definately buy another, but would try to get one without electronics

I recently purchased one of these guitars, approx. 3 months ago. Overall I am disappointed with it.Particularly the tone, or more precisely the balance in tone and volume between the bass strings and the treble strings. The bass strings have a nice full tone, the treble strings sound weak and dull especially when the notes are fretted. I have since learned this is a common problem among low end classical guitars. I bought this guitar as a classical guitar and in that category it is not good.As a nylon string guitar for other styles of music ,it is better and I can live with it for that.I do like the built in tuner,I have played it amplified and it sounds okay, but only if you are using high quality acoustic amplification such as Fishman or Bose. If you are thinking of a guitar for classical music primarily, this is not the guitar you want. If you are playing jazz or Folk style and only occasionally classical, you could get by with it.Overall I probably wouldn't have been so disappointed if I hadn't expected it to function as a classical guitar, as a nylon string guitar it' not too bad. My recommendation is shop around before you buy a La Patrie.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
