Les Paul Standard 2013 - Tea Burst
This product is no longer available.
The Les Paul Standard has always been the cornerstone of the Gibson USA lineup, and the new Les Paul Standard holds that same esteemed position at the center of the 2013 Year of Les Paul celebrations. This is the most versatile Les Paul Standard ever created, the ultimate embodiment of Les Pauls vision of innovation and elegance, and truly represents a marriage of timeless tone with contemporary flexibility and playability. Key features include a superbly comfortable new asymmetrical rendition of the SlimTaper neck profile that fits the players hand like a glove, a compound-radius rosewood fingerboard, and stealth wiring for the great BurstBucker Pro 1 & 2 pickups that provides individual coil splitting, phase reversal, and Pure Bypass switching all without changing the look of the classic control layout. To top it off, the Les Paul Standard 2013 looks sublime in your choice of Grade-AA figured, Standard Plus with Grade-AAA figured top, Premium top, Premium Quilt maple top, or even a figured Koa top beneath your choice of high-gloss Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Honey Burst, Desert Burst, Translucent Amber, or Tea Burst finish, all in nitrocellulose lacquer, and theres also a Goldtop option for that classic 50s look. Left-handed versions are also available.

The new Les Paul Standard 2013 follows the same formula as the most beloved Les Pauls of all time. The guitar shows off its looks with a Grade-AA figured maple top. The marriage of solid maple top and mahogany back, treated to Gibsons new modern weight relief pattern for improved comfort and enhanced resonance, provides a blend of richness, depth, punch, and clarity that no single-wood guitar can provide. A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved in a new asymmetrical version of the popular 60s profile, making it one of the most appealing necks Gibson has ever produced, and its topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard with a superbly playable compound radius thats rounder down in the open chord positions and flatter up in the lead zone. Traditional trapezoid inlays keep it all looking just right, along with cream binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, amber top-hat knobs, and a traditional black-and-white bell truss rod cover. Classic Gibson constructional elements ensure the new Les Paul Standard plays just like the greatest Standards ever, with traditional specs like a 24 scale length, and a 1 11/16 width across the PLEK-cut Corian nut.

The new Les Paul Standards real surprises lurk in its upgraded pickups and extremely clever wiring and control setup. A pair of BurstBucker Pro pickups, a #1 in the neck position and #2 in the bridge, follow the blueprint for Gibsons hallowed PAF humbuckers of the late 50s, but are updated with potted coils for howl-free performance at high volumes, and four-conductor wiring that allows for incredible versatility. The independent volume pot for each pickup has push-pull switching to independently split the coils for single-coil tones, with hum-cancelling performance in the middle position thanks to a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity bridge pickup. Pop up the neck pickups tone control for reverse-phase tones, or lift the bridge pickups tone knob to tap Gibsons new Pure Bypass setting, which routes that pickup straight through to the output jack, bypassing the volume and tone controls for a hotter, clearer sound, making it a great instant lead preset. The innovative pairing of a locking TonePros Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality locking Grover kidney-button tuners ensures smooth, accurate tuning.

I bought this guitar about a year ago and I have never been happier with a purchase. I have heard others get ones with build issues but mine is absolutely 100% perfect in every way. I couldn't ask for a better guitar. Jimmy Page has his #1 and so do I :)

There have been a lot of reviews and opinions on current Les Paul lineups and the Standards from 2008 forward. I own a 2009 LP Standard and have played the 2013 LP Standards. They use what is known as Modern Weight Relief. I personally don't have a problem with Modern weight relief, or Traditional Weight Relief for that matter. Each style of weight relief has it's own character. Making it all the more interesting to own multiple Les Pauls. The 2013 LP Standard has all the bells and whistles. Love the bypass switch for the Lead Pickup - it's like switching to overdrive! Full tone on. The Standards just have that extra little bit of professional finishing to the guitar. A 2013 or 2012 LP Standard is an excellent choice in a Les Paul.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
