V2 Jekyll and Hyde OD and Distortion
This product is no longer available.
The Visual Sound V2JH is two separate overdrive effects in one pedal, each with separate controls, and each with its own personality. They can be used separately or blended together. Jekyll accurately reproduces the sound of the original TS808 Tube Screamer, providing depth and smooth sustain. The Hyde part is a heavier extremely versatile overdrive with more bottom. Use the Jekyll & Hyde pedal's EQ to scoop out the midrange for a wide range of tones and a Sharp/Blunt switch to go from compressed to very bright. The sonic possibilities are endless.

The V2 Jekyll & Hyde pedal features redesigned noise reduction and improved mid control on the Hyde channel, plus additional low-drive range on the Jekyll channel. Besides that and the sweet new V2 housing, the V2JH stompbox delivers the same great overdrive and distortion tones that the Jekyll & Hyde pedal is famous for.I

From its first appearance in 1997, the Jekyll & Hyde was the first stompbox to combine two separate effects in one pedal. Now ten years later the V2 Series gives you the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system, creating the ultimate guitar dream!

Each channel of the newly designed Jekyll & Hyde has separate controls, giving you the ability to use them singly, or together. The Jekyll Overdrive channel delivers more output volume than the original TS-808--far surpassing its predecessor. The Hyde side is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, this crazy distortion pedal is extremely versatile!

From Visual Sounds V2 Series, the V2JH Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters.

Sounds great. Lots of tonal choices. Doesn't color my tone. Recommended.

I am a user of VS and Truetone because I find the value to be immense. Personally, I have yet to find an 808 version pedal that is as musical. The Hyde side gives me plenty of high-gain snarl. Together they are also amazing. I am skeptical of anyone who bashes this pedal. I realize it is likely not for everyone, but I see it as a swiss-army knife of dirt boxes that I could not live without. I will be buying the V3 version also but I will not be parting with this one....too good to part from.

This is essentially the Visual Sound (now called True Tone) version of a tube screamer on the overdrive channel. I love this sound for adding a slight crunch into a clean amp, or for a solo boost into an amp that is on the edge of distortion. It has the mid-push that we expect from a tube screamer, but seems slightly purer in tone. The distortion side is great for heavier playing or a thick solo sound - kind of like a Mesa Boogie distortion, for those singing Carlos Santana lines. Strangely, I don't like the combination sound much - the OD pairs much better with the Open Road for cascading gain. The Distortion is better on it's own. But having the 2 sounds to choose from in one package is a nice feature.

I waited so long to buy this, and when i did, it was just crap, every time i would try and set it, it was all the same sounds, nothing was what i saw and read on this pedal. There is 2 diffrent pedals, the one i bought has plastic type knods and a cheap switch and the other one has nicer knobs and a his the better switch type on/off, that was the one i tried and loved.

I would agree with the other two product reviewers for this product. This was not one of my first Visual Sound products. If i bought it before the Route 66 i might not have bought the Route 66 at all. However i have both and use both together and it works out really great. Between this and the Route 66 - buy both or buy the Route 66.

I have a Jekyll and Hyde on my pedal board as my main distortion. The pedal is very versatile and the bass boost on the OD side provides more options when tone searching. The pedal is built really strong and can take a beating!

Fantastic pedal from a fantastic company! The depth of crunch from the Hyde side is amazing, and the overdrive side with its "bass boost" function gives it tonal quality that's hard to match. For its price, this pedal is tough to beat.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
