I went into buy an acoustic with a 6K budget. Over the period of a month I started playing all the acoustics in the store inside the acoustic room and outside it as well. Hoping to leave with a Gibson or Martin was the original plan, after narrowing down my options this guitar was in the top each time. I was irritated with this finding as it was a much lower in price then what my wife had given my the golden ticket for. But it has all the features required of an acousitc, the build quality was flawless and the wood used had amazing grain and fluid color throughout. The sound was just to balanced to pass up the bass response and top end was matched perfectly and it still cuts through the mix. I have owned this guitar for about 4-5 years and it sounds better and better with age. It has opened up nicely and has lost nothing in sound. It has been played to death at home, gigs, campfires and wherever I feel like bringing it along. I highly recommend this guitar and the value it offers at the low 2K price point. If you can get it for $1800 when it goes on sale that is the best way to land an amazing guitar.

I compared it with Martin GP 5 and 4, Taylor 214, 114ce, and still bought this one.

Low action, perfectly setup right out of the box. A joy to play and a loud guitar unplugged. Beautiful sound and beautiful all around. My next acoustic will definite be another Taylor to go with this one as it's not going anywhere.

I've owned several guitars over the years; Fender, Yamaha, etc..I did a lot of homework (actually I played a bunch of guitars in shops) before I bought this one. The action is great, electronics are minimal but crisp and clear. The tone is amazing. It is my main stage guitar with my Alverez as a back up. For you can spend a lot more for other Taylor models but as far as I am concerned if you are giging and need a main goto guitar this is the one.

Like many others I was looking to spend substantially less. Already had great Takamine 6 that I loved to death, but I always wanted to add a 12 string. I ordered a Tak Jumbo 12 string but it was taking forever to arrive (2 months). While waiting I kept trying other 12's and stumbled on a Taylor 356ce for rental at L&M, after a week I was absolutely convinced it was worth every penny, bought one the following week. But now I found my old beloved 6 string Tak (EG334sbc) came well short of my new Taylor in tone, quality and playability. I went back to L&M to try the Martin and Taylor 6 strings, The 314ce confirmed my gut feeling that I needed a better 6 string now too. My wallet was still feeling the pinch from the last purchase, so I knew I would have to wait another month to get a second Taylor. I went back several times to play it and on the day my Tak 12 finally arrived I had to decline it, but was set on buying that Taylor 6 string instead...but someone was already writing up the one I wanted, missed it by about 10 minutes! Lucky we have more than one dealer in town and I found a factory fresh 314ce in a sealed box, never opened. So that's my upgrade story, went in for an $800 12- string Tak, walked out with a pair of Taylor's valued at $3500 =)

I kept playing this guitar every time I went to the music store. I knew I wanted it, but it was hard to reason with that $1,650 price tag. So I went with a Guild guitar for $1,200 and what a mistake! Had to bring the guitar in to get repair with a week (There was a problem with the electronics). After waiting a month and not hearing one word from LnM, I decided to go in and check for myself. They told me it had to be sent back to Guild and they were sending a new one. Disturbed, I decided to fork over the extra $400 and buy the one I really wanted. I haven't looked back since, this guitar has performed solid for me through many, many gigs. The case it comes with makes the 314ce especially road worthy.

Got a Fender CD-60CE but I was not happy with it, it was just lacking depth and the action was terrible. So I returned the Fender and ordered a Taylor 214ce. I arrived on the store anticipating my 214ce, but the driver was late. While waiting, I kept on compairing the 314ce and the 214ce and I was convinced that the 314 sounded better, but I keep telling myself that it is too expensive, but as the hours passed, I just keep on liking and liking the 314ce and I finally gave in and took it home. Glad I did...

This is not the guitar that I went in to buy, but I'm glad I changed my mind. I was looking for something cheaper, a Takamine or Ovation, but couldn't help but browse around a bit. I saw the matte-finished sides and, curious, gave the 314ce a strum. This thing grows on you instantly; the tonal clarity is unmatched except by the higher-end Taylors, and the feel of the neck is absolutely perfect. I did a mic-to-pickup comparison and that sealed the deal for me. I immediately got comments from the other guitarists at my church about how good it sounded live, and when they gave the 314 a spin, invariably the first words out of their mouths were "Oh WOW." 2 minor complaints: big price tag (worth every penny, but still stings a bit), and it doesn't include a balanced 1/4" to XLR cable (easily remedied with an extra $30, but annoying).

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
