Custom Special 50 Watt 1x12 Guitar All-Tube Combo Amp
Custom Special 50 Watt 1x12 Guitar All-Tube Combo Amp
The Custom Special 50 is the ideal all tube combo for any player looking for maximum versatility in a compact package.

Capable of operating in either a 50-watt Class-AB mode or a more manageable 15-watt pure Class-A mode the Custom Special 50 can easily deliver enough volume for the live stage in the 50-watt setting, or allow the player to find super saturated lead & blues tones in the 15-watt mode for club and studio gigs.

Loaded with a proven single 12-inch Celestion Vintage30 speaker in a solid plywood cabinet, the Custom Special 50 is a full two-channel amplifier with completely independent gain, and fully separate EQ's for clean and lead channels.

Maximum versatility in the clean channel is ensured by the innovative Brit / USA channel voicing switch unique to the Traynor Custom Special Series. This USA / Brit switch actually relocates the tone stack relative to the gain stages in the clean channel, allowing the Custom Special series EQ section to respond with either a crisp 'American' style tube amp, for clarity and definition, or with a grittier, more 'spongy' 'British' flavor associated with the great UK amps of the 60s and 70s.

An Expander circuit that first appeared on Traynor's popular Custom Valve 80 has been included on the Custom Special 50's rhythm channel allowing the amp to deliver an almost acoustic-like tone when required.

The Custom Special 50's lead channel offers more flexibility and a wider tone pallet than competitive tube amps in its class. Modern and Scoop switches offer the player a choice of 'vintage' tube drive or a more aggressive 'scooped' guitar tone. A solo boost level on the lead channel offers easy access to an additional gain stage, allowing the amp to deliver a clean, crunch and lead tone from the simple two-button footswitch (included).

Accutronics spring reverb, separate parallel effects loop with send and return for external side chain effects like chorus and delays, as well as an in-line loop through for EQ's, Compressors or other effects, a master volume, Presence and Resonance controls are all included on the Custom Special 50.

As an additional feature the Presence and Resonance can be removed from the circuit with a simple touch of a switch on the front panel, shorting the signal path and delivering a truly vintage tube sound for the tone purist.

Features:
• Selectable 50-watt Class-AB / 15-watt Class-A output
• 1x12-inch Celestion Vintage30 Speaker
• Footswitchable full Two Channel Configuration
• Brit / USA Voicing Switch on Clean Channel

• Parallel and Loop-thru Effects Sends and Returns

No idea why they discontinued this gem. Best amp I've ever owned. Clean, crunch and overdrive are all fantastic. Want more gain? Put a high gain 12AX7 in there and you've got it all. I've had mine for 8 years and I wouldn't sell or trade it for anything!

I have had this amp for 7 years now ,gigged with it everywhere around town ,small unmiked venues to big ones and studio recordings. This thing has never failed me.It has amazing tone possibilities and the sound i made for myself ,i have never found the same on any other amp i crossed path with and tried. The clean channel on it is awesome!!!! I take it just at the breaking point's edge and it sounds amazing. This is an underrated treasure on the market ,but has you can see ,everyone that writes a review about it has none but positive things to say.I am super happy with this amp.I am actually looking for a second one now.

This is the one, ladies & gents! I've owned a number of tube amps over the years, but no 1x12" I know of compares to this. The features are all there, the tone options are amazing, and the solid build quality that Traynor's known for is evident. I like that the Effects Loop has a control to adjust the amount of effect can be blended with the dry tone ... not a common feature. The Class A / AB adjustment is also convenient, allowing for household-friendly 15-watt power, or full 50-watt. And this is a very cool looking amp ... wouldn't change a thing about it!

I have been looking for an amp for a while that is a match for my fender customized strat. This is it. This is my tone I have been looking for. The amp has both 15 and 50 watts at your disposal. The tubes live longer. Love the usa/brit switch and the scoop switch. You can dial in your tone and leave it be. Bonus also is having an amazing amp at the top of its game being made in Canada. Highly recomend this.

For years I have been trying different amps with my guitars that I have. After spending sooo much time trying the popular brand amps such as fender, marshal, randal etc...and so much time being disappointed, I came across a Traynor amp at Long and McQuade. I wasn't familiar with Traynorso I spent some time looking at the offerings and rented one. Within a week I fell in love with it. Finally the tone and features I was looking for. Only problem was it was a 20watt. So Traynor became the brand to spec out. I found this YCS50 amp has everything I am looking for. I especially like the 15 watt setting at home so that I remain on good terms with my neighbours. I couldn't step down in output with other amps. The tone is amazing. The individual channel controls lends to setting it and leaving it. More time for playing. The true tone of my strats is audible. Love it. What took me so long. It begs to be usef.

I was looking for a really nice sounding amp to play around the house. I took this one on spec and have just fallen in love with it! Both channels are clean and and just what I was looking for. The features are just what I was looking for. Even the built in reverb is great! If it had a built in Chorus, it would be perfect! The price is very reasonable for this amp and glad I bought it!

after having tried almost every pedal possible to get the tone I was looking for in a transistor amp, I have come to the conclusion that I needed a tube amp. I have tried different amp in store but I have decide to buy the ycs50. A choice that I will never regret. That amp is incredible giving me the perfect tone for blues, rock and even metal. My hunt for tone is now done because of this amp.

This is my first Traynor amp but I am impressed. Tons of clean tones available and some excellent distortion too. I can get a similar Mesa tone with the scoop and modern switches in. This amp is packed with a ton of features and the build quality is top notch. Only downsides are that this amp is a little hard to carry cuz its quite large for a 1x12 combo and pretty heavy. Also, with my Ernie Ball Volume Pedal down in the effects loop the volume doesnt go completely silent. In conclusion though, if you want a versatile amp to last you forever, this amp is great.

I have owned this amp for 6 years now and have never had a problem with it and it sounds great everywhere; Gigs, band practice, or at home in your bedroom. Has a great setup of controls for dialing in a vast array of tones. I love the sweet sound of my gibson les paul playing through the overdrive channel.

I played drums in a band and was exposed to many different guitar amp sounds, and recently started playing electric guitar (played acoustic for decades). Having heard mostly Marshalls and Fenders (not the inexpensive models either) I had a certain versatility of sound in mind that I just couldn't get from either one. I took a chance on this Traynor without even hearing it, mainly because I didn't have the confidence to play it at the store, and also because of all the great reviews out there. When I plugged my Strat it at home, I was instantly amazed at all the tones I could get out of it. And it's so quiet (no buzz)compared to the Fender Blues amp I traded in. It goes from clean to raunchy in a stomp of the foot switch, and all shades in between with a few adjustments. The only negative is that it requires two foot switch pedals (there are two inputs) but only one is included. Compare the specs and features to other amps costing a lot more and you'll see why this is a winner.

I have had one of these since Christmas of 2011 and I absolutely love the clean tones that I get out of this thing. And,.. its not just my opinion. The people I play with also feel that this thing punches out some fantastic clean sounds. I also like overdriving the clean channel which produces a rich blues type of distortion out of it. As for the drive channel, it sounds great but might not give someone likes really heavy distortion as much as they may desire. It’s extremely well made, versatile and good all around amp with great tone and a good value for the dollar to get into tube amps with great tone. If I replace this amp it will only be with a mesa boogie.

I picked one of these up used and absolutely love it. The ability to switch from 50 to 15 makes it very versatile and maintains tone at lower volumes. The clean tone is superb and you get great crunch in the second channel with the boost driver on. Overall, fantastic value for the money and it's Canadian made.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
