People say its hard to set it up. Its not, there are a load of options though. Start with an OD pedal Full volume/gain at 20% max. : Channel 1 tweed, Channel 2 crunch (JCM800 circuit, the best tone in the amp IMO), channel 3 MKIV normal mode. Set the EQ to a V.
Further, even though it has a great master volume it does benefit from the Mesa Powerhouse Attenuator for bedroom level playing.
I Sold a dual rectifier to buy it, great choice. I wouldnt trade it for any other amp.

This amp is truly outstanding. I've had mine for over a year and I'm still discovering new sounds. There is absolutely no genre it can't do flawlessly. After a year of use, the only deficiency I have found is that the reverb on channel 2 is a little weak. There is a catch though. Since this amp is so incredibly versatile, you'll really need to take some time figuring out how to dial it in to your taste. It is absolutely crucial that you read and understand every single page of the owners manual. With a good understanding of how the controls work with each other, you will be able to easily dial in incredible tones all day long.

Had this amp over a year now, bought used from L & M. Had a FS cable issue but the store gave me a new one no problem. Pretty much all the amp I need and more. You can make things as simple or complex as your appetites take you. From face melting volume and distortion to chimey sweet cleans and everything in between. Very responsive, like an instrument on its own, to your input and the guitar's controls. If you want nearly the versatility of an amp modeler in the form of an analog tube amp that is holds its own in any band situation, this is a beast for you.

I’ve had this amp for over 6 months now and I don’t regret it for a second. The tonality is just endless. After a little reading on how the tone knobs function (Bass-Mids-Treble) and the EQ fits into the mix, dialing in a tone is much less frustrating. I LOVE being able to switch to 10W mode for basement playing then BAM - 90W for a good jam. I just replaced the stock pickups in my Epi with a set of Gibson 57 / 57+ and WOW !! The sound just got serious. Could not believe the difference. What a pair. This amp is expensive . . . but well worth it !!!

I bought this amp and about 3 months in a crackling noise started coming through the amps second and third channel. Not feedback, not tube harmonics nothing like that. I brought it in and we found that it had something to do with the foot pedal electronics inside the amp. Unfortunately they could not get to the root of the problem so I returned it. Why? Because I didn't feel like having an amp hat was constantly going to be in and out of service. Especially when you pay over $3000 dollars for it. Personally I think there is way too much going on in this amp. Hence the stupid little annoying problem that came with it. Maybe it was unlucky... I hope so for others sakes because the sound of this amp when working properly is amazing. But be aware that it is potentially problematic. The 1x12 combo goes in service a lot. I recommend getting something else.

Went through the normal progression of amps; Peavey, Line6, Fender, Marshall, etc. (Solid state> digital> tube) and wound up with this one. Absolutely amazing. Very versatile and can do everything the past ones can do and more. Some may describe it as expensive and it is. However, you'll keep this one instead of losing money on switching out all the other ones searching for that great tone. Does everything exceptionally well and build quality is second to none. Get one. You won't regret it.

For me it was all about tone. Quality and variety, after trying many amps, stood out as the feature that mattered to me most. Using online demos and reviews (including here) I could see that others who know this amp kept saying how good the variety and quality of tones this amp has. So I tried the Mark V. The Mark V gave me a tone that I liked in just minutes of playing around. I was also impressed with the speaker that Mesa put in this amp. Very versatile for all the tones. I like the expression used by others in reviews...it goes like this....Would you replace the amp if it was stolen? Yes, I would as they are not many (or any) tube amps out there that can do so much.

Bought this amp brand new from the Burlington store. This amp is the best amp I've ever own. I've own Marshalls and Line6 and Fender amps before. Nothing compares to this amp. This is the king of amps. It's not cheap but you get what you paid for. This amp is like having 9 amps into one. Not too complicated to learn as well. Don't think about it just go and buy one. Cheers

Like most people I was immediately intimidated by all the dials and switches and of course by the price. Bought a JVM 410C and ended up hating it (too loud, every channel sounds the same, feedback, and channel volume issues). I then went back to the store and played the Mark V again and had a whole new appreciation. The tones are just unreal (Fender clean and twang, Plexi Blues, and wicked heavy shred). Easiest thing to do at first is to just use the preset EQ knob. I haven't even scratched the surface with tweaking knobs but I already love it and can't wait for future tonal discoveries. Worth every penny!!

This is it. The only Guitar amp you will ever need. Like the book says, it is 9 amps in 1. You want fender clean, you got it. You want Marshall Crunch, you got it. You want all the famous Mark series sounds from the past, you got it. I've read reviews from guys that didn't get it, and to tell you the truth I feel sorry for them. They don't know what they're missing. Now let me tell ya, there are a lot of switches, dials and sliders. It is not a plug and play amp. But if you spend the time learning and tweaking the amp you will not be disappointed. I wasn't!

I have owned Marshall, Hiwatt and several Fender amps in the past and my Mark V blows them all away. It's an extremely versatile amp and worth every penny.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
