I've owned a lot of Marshalls and Mesas but Mesa's Royal Atlantic is one of the most versatile amps I've played. You get the best of both worlds - hot rodded British rhythm tones and trademark Mesa liquid lead channel tones. The Mesa Royal Atlantic 100 is the best "Marshall" on the market at the moment. It delivers everything from pristine cleans, to plexi style Marshall tones, to modern metal mayhem. I tour with the amp on a frequent basis and it's quickly become my number one! I find this head to be very open sounding. Sound over all is very big with a 2x12 Rectifier cabinet. I bought it for the clean channel and the British sound and I find it does it better than a Marshall. Over all this head has impressed me bar none. I have had it for 3 months so the new amp syndrome is long gone and it still gives me those first impression wows every time I pick up my Gretsch 6120 and plug it in. This is my 3rd Boogie and the one I like the best. I have owned the Recto-Verb and the Lone Star Special. If ya like the Brit sound and very open and big this head is for you.
