I played this at L & M last week and haven't stopped thinking about it since. Great sounding and playing bass at a great price. I own a late 70s American Precision, as well as an early 90s MIM Jazz, and this bass stands up well against them. It's just as punchy and defined as my American P, just a bit less warm and full in the low end, presumably due to a different species of wood being used (basswood on the Squier, and Alder on the American Fender, I believe). I've tried a few other Squier "Classic Vibe" instruments and they all seem to hold up really well to their American couterparts. If you're looking to spend less than $500 on an instrument, it's unlikely that you'll do any better than a Squier Classic Vibe. Posted by Larry White on Jan 23, 2013

Great bang for your buck. This a nice comfortable bass to play. It's a simple design with no fancy "bells or whistles" and with a set of flat wounds on board, it can produce that vintage R&R sound.
