Propellerhead Balance is awesome!

If your a Reason user, or looking for a good hassle free audio interface I highly recommend Balance. It is pretty much a plug and play experience if you use OSX, and when on PC you just need to install some drivers from propellerheads. Before buying balance please be aware that it has problems with USB 3.0 ports, so do your research before buying! It works fine with 2.0, which it was designed for. Balance might not be the best thing for someone who wants to record a band, but for a single musician who wants to record stuff Balance is a great tool. It is a 2 in 2 out interface so if you need something for vocal recording, or to record a single instrument while singing this is a good deal. I gave it a 8 for features, because it is not that full featured for people who need more than 2 io ports. Quality wise I gave it a 9 because it is a solidly designed unit. The sound quality is also very good, I noticed that the headphone volume fader requires you to turn it up quite a bit before you can hear it at decent levels however. It ships with Reason essentials which is a great starter product and gives you everything you need to make a professional song. Reason is also a great program if your computer isn't exactly cutting edge (Core2Duo 2ghz, i5 etc) because it can handle large projects quite easily due its incredible programming. If your someone who is interested in getting into music production on the computer, this is something I would highly recommend! The Reason program is very much a visual system that simulates how real studio gear would work. It is great in this sense in learning how to work in a studio with real rack based hardware! For classically trained musicians that require notation this might not be a ideal program to solely rely on because it has no built in notation editor. However If you do have a program with ReWire technology like Sibelius then you can control the Reason rack from that program. If you need a solid music program for live shows, many Artists rely on Reason because of its incredible stability! If you you rewire with Ableton live and combine it with reason you will have a very powerful live based setup. Overall I think you get a lot of Value out of buying balance! Even if you don't need the Reason software, balance is a great Interface when used with other programs like Ableton live or other commonly used DAWS.
