| I own a few AKG mics now. This mic is very affordable and provides a professional large sound. It does tend to smooth out the vocalist voice which works really great in certain instances.
In comparison to a C414B XLII & C414 XLS its somewhere right inbetween both models.
Try it with a monster p500 xlr cable and it sounds just right! Thats my take.

| So this was the year I started to discover the wonderful world of recording and engineering. There is alot to learn and alot of money to be spent. So learning isn't a problem and money well as a musician in Canada there's not alot of that floating around! So i started researching vocal microphones. My vocalist kept going on about the AKG C414 - which is legendary! So i started researching and pricing the units. Then i stumbled across the AKG C214. Basically the same diaphram for the mic as the 414 without a polar pattern and it's not double sided. So after some consideration I said why not buy it! I've had the mic now for 6 months and it is very transparent. My vocalist has been extremely pleased with the vocals we have been able to produce straight into the board. It's incredibly sensitive to the most minute positioning of your mouth and the colour of your voice!
In my opinion you can not go wrong by owning one of these mics! It has been a pleasant and affordable mic! And hey its made in the same factory as the 414 so that should say something about itself!
