I've owned this mic for many months now and I've found it invaluable to my home studio arsenal. Currently, I've been using it to record guitar tracks as a replacement for a Shure SM57. I find the Apex works well to capture many nuances the Shure can't especially at lower volumes (as I DO have neighbors). It's also great for recording acoustic instruments. However, with acoustic instruments I'd recommend getting a second one to capture the 'room' as well. Or, try the Audio Technica 2020, as a second similar mic (which I also own). Typically, I use both to mic my amps in my home studio, one close mic'd and the other as an ambient/distant mic. The Apex sounds great and the shock mount is a great included addition! I completely recommend the Apex 435 to anyone needing to get a better response that what a dynamic can give you, yet not have to mortgage your parent's house to afford a condenser mic (even though the C414 is still on my list). The only drawback is that the mic only comes in a cardioid pattern. However, it does come with a switchable pad that allows you to record things like a bass drum.
