I own these speakers 6 in all and as a pro audio video dj,kj,vj and live act entertainment company they are vary good quality and clear as hell .....and i love telling anyone who asks that ther canadian made and kick ass.... but as a canadian i am sick that yorkvill and long and mcQuade somehow think we should pay more for them...we should be geeting them at lest 15% less than the US. YOU SHOULD HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR BASE IN CANADA..its a crime !!

We are a guitar/piano duo and play anywhere from old folks homes to street dances and these little speakers are amazing. I take only one of these speaker to use in small (up to 100) venues and just set it behind us (acts as monitor as well). It has a nice rich, smooth sound that makes you want to keep playing. We use no effects. For bigger venues we have the Bose pole and subs behind us as well as these things out front. The Bose system work great and is what we have used for years, but for small rooms, it was 5 pieces to carry and set up. Now it is 2 (one of these and a tripod). We rent the subs that match up to these for street dances and halls, the sound is amazing. Setting up and tearing down has become so quick and easy. We can haul everything easily in our mini van. I rented them a few times before buying them. Lovin them!

You can spend the weekend in the states (48hrs) and bring these back duty free. I picked up a pair for 499.99 each in Buffalo NY. Brought 'em back duty free!, and had a great weekend.

I had two of these cabinets and now have four. They are reliable and can take a tremendous beating both in use and in travel. I use them in a rental situation and know that they will be dependable and always come back in working order. The versatility of the electronics allows for abundant bass without the subs and incredible mid/high volumes when used with subs. The mic preamp is very adequate for small venues where a simple PA is all that is needed.

Product Experience I've tried it Closest Store Oshawa Ontario
For the past two years, I've done a long-term rental (about 4 mons, using them around 60 times each year) of a pair of NX55p's from L&M. Not that the caveat in my review is that I have NOT used any other pro speakers. That being said, I am in the sound and video biz, and I am always stunned by their great sound. Clear, and great bass. I cannot see the need for a sub. One downside is that they are (to my small frame) a bit heavy. The other two downsides are minor, but important, if that can make any sense at all. First, if you're carrying it suitcase-style and you put it down on the ground, the cabinet rocks and bangs you in the calf, or worse yet, in the ankle. This has happened to ALL my techs! The second thing is the poor geometry of the handles. They should be triangular, or at the very least rounded, because when held in your curled fingers, they are so uncomfortable. Carry them for more than about 15 seconds, it actually becomes painful. As I said, it's merely because the handle is more rectangular, than triangular. One thing I’m not happy about is pricing, and I know for a fact that this is what keeps potential buyers away from them, as I often talk with people at gigs when they mention how good they sound. Fact is, they’re around $720 in the US, and considering that Yorkville is based right here in Pickering, Ontario, AND that our dollar has been above the US dollar for ages, they really should be C$720 or less. They’d sell more, simply put.

I bought these used out of the rental dept of Long and McQuade in St. John's, on the recommendation of the staff. We are a 4 piece band playing smaller halls etc so we don't need a lot of power, but we wanted some extra "oomph" if we ever decided to play bigger shows. These speakers may be lightweight and small in size, but they sound HUGE! The sound that comes out of these things is phenomenal! Lots of bass too! Plus they have been reliable for well over a year I've owned them (we use them for rehearsal too!) so they have been used 40 times or more in the past year. The staff at Long and McQuade know their stuff, and this recommendation proves it. If you are looking for a set of speakers for under 2 Grand these are the ones to get!
