I'm usually not to big on boss products ever since they moved production to Taiwan, but this one got my attention. I've had it for a little while now and it has earned it's spot on my board. The sound is unrivaled compared to other metal distortions or distortions in general, (and trust me I spent about 3 hours trying as many distortions as I could in the $50-$150 range and even I was surprised that I walked out with a boss pedal). the amount of control you get with the EQ is great, and you can get many different sounds with this pedal, even a normal distortion sound (just keep the volume and gain under 12:00 and raise the volume on your amp to compensate). I use this for all my metal needs, from Metallica and Megadeth, to Slipknot and Korn. The only things I don't like, and what usually turns me off of boss pedals is the sticker on the face for showing dial position, the cheap plastic knobs and the cheap switch that usually seem to go or break quite often, but I got mine modded to a metal switch for about $20 and I would recommend that if your going to use it alot you do the same thing. The metal casting isn't the greatest either, its quite slim but will still take a beating, but is nothing to the MXR or Elc.Hmnx. castings and paint. Like I said before tho the sound is unrivaled and that's what really matters to a true player. For under $100 i would recommend it to anyone looking for a distortion. I use it through a Marshall MA50C Tube. and couldn't be happier with the sound.

My substitute for music bought this in and he knows how to use it. He let me try it and man does it make some great distortion. I think it should be $60 or $70 but other than that its great.

So really really cool so louder than the Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion but the mt-2 much more thicker distortion than md-2... And i can change any sound of distortion to mt-2...

I love this pedal as a sudo-eq but I found that even though there are more options on this guy, I feel like it has no soul. It's hard to explain but I do think it's a good pedal. Here's a hit though, if you don't know what your doing, start from the presets in your manual, otherwise you'll get lost in all the knobs.

I chose this pedal over the other Boss distortion pedals because I can get a wide range of distortion sounds from this pedal by adjusting the equalizers and distortion levels. I can get crunchy even punchy or fuzzy distortion sounds. If it sounds good to my ears then I'm happy.

It's a great pedal with lots of tweakability and decent sound, but if you don't mind spending a little more you can really nail that metal stack sound by getting somebody local to build you a "Dr Boogey" pedal. It's an emulation of a Mesa Boogie dual rectifier's lead channel, in pedal form. It's got loads of tweaks, an epic Mesa crushing sound, and more gain than you can handle. It'll probably run you around $200, but it is worth every penny. Check it out on Youtube.
