This guitar has a solid spruce top according to the ovation website, L and M are incorrect in saying it is laminate. This guitar blows Taylors away, in that it has bass punch, strong mid range and clear high end. It is being compared to a Taylor here because the tone is bright, very unlike a Martin or Larrivee. I wanted a good rock acoustic and this own impressed me at the shop, but blew me away when I got home. It does not come set up properly. It has shims in the bridge that you can remove and mine came with a nut that is a tad too high. Tim, one of the techs, will gladly include the setup of the nut and saddle for free when you buy it here. It works well unplugged, and holds its tuning well. It comes with stock light guage EXP16s and they have good projection but I would look to upgrade them. The overall sound is punchy, percussive and the intonation is great. When played softely it takes on a harp like quality but when hit hard it can cover rock like no other acoustic I have played. Highly recommended. Posted by Davis on Sep 28, 2012
