The '57-style, 2-piece alder body has an ultrathin, Custom Shop-quality nitrocellulose lacquer finish that results in better resonance. Johnson opted for a one-piece, quartersawn maple neck with a 12" radius that's finished with a thin-skinned glossy lacquer and vintage tint. 19 prototype pickups were created before Johnson found the tone he was looking for. The Custom Shop-modified single coils use a new wire material and winding technique for the magnets giving them a unique, Eric Johnson-approved sound. Johnson and Braun also included one of Eric's most famous Strat modifications by wiring the tone controls to the neck and bridge pickups, instead of the standard neck/middle tone configuration of most Strats.
This guitar offers tonal perfection thanks to the discerning ear of one of the best players to ever pick up an axe. Three stock preset sounds are available along with one user-programmable "Variable" sound - the parameters of which are adjustable within a top, centrally located compartment. The three non-variable Presets are named "Tuba" (single oscillator), "Bass" and (famously) "Taurus". The following parameters are foot switchable: Glide (on/off), Octave (+ 1 octave or Normal), Release (long release on/off), and the three stock Presets and one Variable Preset. Top mounted foot controlled sliders affecting volume (Loudness) and filter cutoff (Filter)are also provided. A unique feature of the Octave function allows the player to change this footswitch setting while an unpressed note was sounding, with actual transposition only taking place immediately upon the next note press, allowing for smooth, predictable changes during performance and recording. The Taurus I's FET-based integrator oscillator and classic Moog 24dB/Oct Low Pass Filter produce a unique, edgy, penetrating timbre which is not exactly duplicated by any other instrument and is widely regarded for its extremely rich, "fat" sound, which is oftentimes more felt than heard when greatly amplified. Conceptually, the M3 is an extremely simple eight-into-two mic/line mixer with no multitrack playback monitoring section, but with post-fader direct outputs on every channel, switchable between -10dBv and +4dBu. This is not a console to be used on its own for most recording applications, as it cannot be used both to track signals and to monitor them at the same time. | The EF500P redefines performance in a high-power professional active loudspeaker enclosure. Utilizing the popular elite EF508 as a base, and adding a total of 1000 watts (program) of bi-amped power and advanced signal processing, the EF500P is destined to set a new standard for active loudspeaker design. The woofer or low frequency amplifier uses Class D switching technology to reduce overall weight of the amplifier section. This solution allows the horn to produce loud clean transients to keep up with the high output of the woofer. The two-tier amplifier technology isn't typically seen in a product like this, however we found the advantages (lower weight, more efficiency, higher headroom and lower operating temperature) made it a perfect choice for powering the top end.
