Bruce West is an accomplished violin and viola player. He has studied with several distinguished teachers and played in a number of orchestras and chamber ensembles over many decades. Some of the groups Bruce has been involved with include The Huronia Symphony, The Quinte Symphony, and The Carpe Diem Ensemble. 

Along with performing and teaching, Bruce is a skilled Luthier. He has been making fine instruments including violins, violas, cellos, and guitars for over 50 years. He has taught violin making for the North York Board of Education, as well as Sir Wilfred Laurier University.  Bruce is currently the Orchestral Strings Luthier for Long & McQuade Belleville.

Bruce's lesson rate is $27/half hour lesson.

Fresh from Liverpool, UK. Carl has a diploma in music and has been a pro drummer for 25yrs. He taught in the biggest drum shop in Liverpool and toured extensively around Europe with some big name bands like Oasis. He teaches all styles and levels and believes lessons must always be fun, informative and have a set goal, whether that is learning a song, study, or rudiments.

Cassandra Goulbourne is a graduate of Queens University’s Bachelor of Music (honours) program where she specialized in vocal music. She started her musical journey early in life going through the Royal Conservatory program in piano and voice. She attended a specialized performing arts high school where she majored in voice and drama, and frequently performed at school and in her community. She is a trained performer, director, music director and conductor who has been involved with many theatre and choral companies across Ontario. Productions she has been involved in have received nominations for Juvenis Festival and Broadway Way World awards. She is trained in many styles of vocal music, including opera, musical theatre, jazz and popular music. She maintains an active performance career and is involved in theatre in the community of Bellville as well as across Canada. She is excited to have joined Long & McQuade, Belleville and is looking forward to fostering the talent in our community.

His strong background in music theory, and his deep understanding of the concepts of groove and feel, allow him to tackle any genre and break down the finer points to an understandable level. He teaches all styles and ages with a strong belief that music should be fun and engaging, while helping students achieve their goals.

Jimmy started playing guitar at around 12 years old. Learning from the multiple musicians in his family he was able to hone his skills and over time branched out into multiple instruments. Jimmy’s love of performing has led to playing in the Hastings and Quinte area as one half of the duo, The Rodgers Boys. His teaching style is individualized to each person and not genre specific. From complex musical theory to just basic chords, meeting people at their level is his main focus in teaching.

Mark has been playing since 12 years of age, and 35+ years later is still active and currently performs with a local classic rock band named Bone Shaker. Mark has teaching experience with acoustic, electric, and bass guitars, and has taught students of all age levels and specializes in tailoring lessons based on each individual. Reading standard notation and tablature can also be taught if desired. Mark continues to study, practice, write and record music in his home studio and has a strong passion for sharing his musical abilities to enable others to explore the beauty of music that awaits them. Lessons can also be taught in French or Spanish.

Sherin has been a professional singer since the age of 10. At the age of 12 she went on her first Canadian tour and by 15 she had toured internationally. She recently graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelors of Music, with a specialization in vocal performance and music cognition. Sherin is trained in opera, classical, jazz, musical theatre, and pop music. During her time at McMaster, she worked with several choirs and musical organizations as a conductor, vocal coach, sound tech, composer, arranger and concert coordinator, and has also taught private and group lessons for children and adults for 5 years. Most recently, Sherin performed with the Belleville Theatre Guild in their production The Music Man as Maud Dunlop. She is also affiliated with: McMaster University Choir, McMaster Women's Choir, McMaster Chamber Choir, McMaster A Cappella (Macappella), Hamilton Children's Choir, and the Hastings and Prince Edwards Children's Choir. Although she enjoys performing, she finds teaching to be the most rewarding facet of her musical career and is always excited to take on new students, young or old, beginner or experienced, and create a curriculum that fits their goals. Lessons can be taught in English or French.

Spencer Barriage - Piano music lessons in Belleville

Spencer has been playing music since the age of 11, studying through the Royal Conservatory method. Early in his studies, he became a church pianist up until attending Western University in order to further pursue his musical education. After attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Philosophy, he joined the Deagu theatre group as a piano accompanist and musical director while overseas. Returning back to Canada, he continued teaching privately and playing with local bands as well as working with various theatre groups.
Lessons are based on students’ goals in music and what is needed to reach those goals, including technique, theory, RCM certification prep, or ear training. All ages and experience levels welcomed.
