Thursday, March 15 | 7-9pm - Drum Replacing and Triggering with James Miles and Paul Stewart
James and Paul will be demonstrating a concept perfectly suited for the home recording hobbyist, such as techniques for recording electronic drums, recording real drums with triggers and using drum plug-in software.


Saturday, March 17 | 2-4pm  - “Pop” & “Rock” Your Voice with Dan Clancy
Dan Clancy, lead singer of 4-time Juno award winning Canadian super-group Lighthouse, will take you on a journey demonstrating what it takes to prepare you and your voice to “stand out" in today’s world. This clinic will be interactive and engaging, focusing on the cornerstones of good vocal technique (Respiration, Phonation, Resonation, Articulation) while introducing performance elements (accents, phrasing, dynamics, vibrato, rhythm) to help ready you and your voice for live performance, recording studio sessions, auditions, competitions and more.

Tuesday, March 6 | 7-9pm - Hand Drumming with Larry Crowe
This clinic will feature a demonstration of various hand drums and percussion from around the world, and a discussion of various rhythms and patterns from different cultures. Participation by audience members is encouraged, and all ages and levels are welcome. Larry has taught drums for over a decade and has worked with award-winning musicians in a variety of genres.

Tuesday, March 13 | 7-9pm - Bach 2 Rock:Alternative Piano Repertoire with Alexandra Lacroix-Bardsley
Learn to develop fundamental piano skills and engage students with alternative methods and contemporary music.

Tuesday, March 20 | 7-9pm - Drum Tuning with Killian Hamilton
Killian will demystify the drum head selection process by explaining the differences between clear and coated heads, and 1-ply and 2-ply heads. He’ll also demonstrate different tuning techniques for snare drums, toms and bass drums, and popular muffling techniques for each.

Wednesday, March 21 | 7-9pm - Home Recording Basics with Alf Annibalini
Presented by Metalworks Institute. An informative course based on ProTools LE, MBox and M-Powered hardware and software. Alf will discuss proper speaker placement and mic technique, and the use of software plug-ins in home recording. Alf is an accomplished recording engineer, having worked with Nelly Furtado, Kardinall Offishall and more. He is currently a freelance recording engineer and mixer, with SRO Management and Maverick Records.

Thursday, March 1 | 7-9pm - Songwriting with Patrick Ballantyne and Meredith Shaw
Patrick Ballantyne, best known as Gordie Johnson’s co-writer in Big Sugar and Grady, Patrick, along with Boom 97.3’s Meredith Shaw (a singer-songwriter in her own right) will take us through the creative process of songwriting. Patrick will perform live, talk about the songwriting process provide some great tips and answer your questions.

Get new ideas on how to deal with the sound balance for your worship team: how to reduce the drummer and bass player sound, get more gain before feedback, hear better on stage with less monitor energy in the house and more. Jon will provide tips and tricks to help you get better sound for your church, not to mention some cool new toys to look at.

Vivian has spent over 13 years in the North American music industry and currently runs the Warner Chappell Music Canada Ltd. office, where she works with writers as varied as
Simple Plan, Jully Black and Sly & Robbie amongst others. Currently the VP of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame board of directors, Vivian also sits on the boards of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and the Canadian Music Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA).  She is a member of The Urban Music Association of Canada (UMAC) and Phemphat Productions, producers of the annual Honey Jam Talent Showcase. She currently teaches Music Publishing at Metalworks Institute.

Wednesday, March 14 | 7-9pm - All About Grants with Richard Underhill
Richard’s talk will cover:
• Different grants available: recording, touring, songwriting, video
• Granting agencies: FACTOR, Video FACT, Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council
• How to write a grant: The importance of concise information, budgets, etc.
• An in-depth discussion of each type of grant and how to approach them.
• How to choose the right songs to submit for your proposal.
• An inside look at the jury process.
Grants are available for all styles of music, so this session will be informative for everyone!
Richard Underhill’s warm alto sound, great writing and arranging skills and in-from-the-outside soloing make him one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz performers. This award-winning veteran has performed and recorded Jane Bunnett, Aaron Neville and Dumpsta Funk, Molly Johnson, Blue Rodeo, Colin James, Andy Stochansky, Colin Linden, Hawksley Workman and many more. He is a founding member of Toronto's outrageous Sun Ra influenced Shuffle Demons.

Saturday, March 3 | 1-3pm - Introduction to Blues/Rock Guitar with Rob Bulger
In this clinic, Rob will cover everything from fingerboard knowledge, to triads and Blues basics like the 12-bar form, improvising, phrasing and more. Rob is one of the most versatile players and instructors in the GTA. He has served as the Head of the Guitar Department at Humber College, and has been a faculty member and Assistant Director at Guitar Workshop Plus since the program’s inception over ten years ago.

Tuesday, March 6 | 7-9pm - Interactive Drumming Workshop with Tim Gittens
This is an interactive clinic/workshop aimed at the intermediate to advanced player, but useful for beginner and pro alike. Learn and share ideas about how using simple techniques (accents, dynamics, phrasing, etc) can turn simple beats into much more colourful ones in any style, and take those fills and solos you've been playing for years and turn them into more dynamic, musical and inspired expressions.

Construction and Tuning Clinic (1-3pm) / Open House (3-5pm) presented by TRS Custom Drums and Evans Drumheads
This event is for any level of drummers or recording enthusiasts who want to know more about their drums and take their sound to the next level. From shell construction and bearing edges to tuning and head selection, many subjects will be explored - culminating in the tuning of a drum kit and a live performance by CNS (www.thecentralnervoussystem.com.) This presentation will be followed by a hands-on information and tech session where you can talk one on one with representatives so stick around for a great drum hang! This clinic will feature an overview of different microphones and their applications, including placement tips and more. Tony owns and operates Wolf Trax Audio Recording and Mastering Studio, and has worked with David Wilcox, Colm Wilkinson, the Neville Brothers and more.
