...and the Antelope Play is a through-composed tone poem that depicts the transformation of the Antelope Valley: from ancient times to the eventual displacement of the native culture, to modern times. The title comes from word and melodic asscociation of the 19th century song "Home on the Range", although you only hear the melody as melodic fragments. Winner of the 2007 CBDNA Young Band Composition Competition.
