The Apex440 is a Class-A FET condenser USB microphone designed to direct connect to any USB 2.0 equipped computer or laptop. The 35mm gold sputtered/center-terminated wide diaphragm capsule delivers a full 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, rivaling standard studio condenser microphones.

The Apex440 offers the added convenience of an internal 24bit / 96kHz digital conversion direct to the USB2.0 output, making it the ideal microphone for software based recording solutions or Podcasting. The Apex440 operates on both Windows and Mac platforms.

I purchased this FET in March '09, it is now September '12. Lemme tell you folks: It has endured the test of time boy!. 2 rap mixtapes. 10 kid's songs. Home made percussion kit recordings, and countless voise overs and snippets. When I purchased it, I was convinced by its' USB connectivity but a little unsure about USB noise. Well, very faint but...it is there, not gonna lie. But it is nothing that a little filtering can't fix. Just make sure to place away from other electrical sources to avoid the buzz. Then DO use a precision notch EQ on the low-mid to high-mid and maybe even a very high freq low pass as needed for vocals. Not sure about using this to record instruments as I have never tried it besides those home made percs mentioned. But for real, for the Money, it is a killer deal. One thing I did notice was everyone loves the internal Blue LED light. Kids go nuts for it and adults are like "damn... high tech stuff!" lol... get this mic if you wanna bypass the soundcard like I did. 2 birds with one stone! Posted by DonmecZ on Sep 2, 2012

When I first walked into the store, I was mainly looking for just a normal condenser mic, but then I saw the apex440. It's just sooooo amazing! I really love this microphone. I have had it about a year (boy, the price has dropped!) - I generally love it, there is only one problem: When using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 in 64-bit/x64 the APEX utility does not install/function (and I have tried many, many compatability "tricks"). So - the microphone does function, Windows does automatically install a driver, but the gain is very low - you have to speak within 10-15 centimeters away or your listeners cannot hear you. (Which is not "horrible" when broadcasting from home with 3 "barky" dogs and 2 kids ;-) ) Posted by Jason Kaczor on Aug 5, 2011
