Housed in an attractive anodised aluminium unibody chassis, the interface not only sounds fantastic but looks great too. Whats more its solid enough to take on the road when you travel. The Scarlett 2i2 is much more than just a pretty metal box...

High Quality Mic Preamps
Scarlett 2i2 features two high quality award-winning Focusrite mic pres. With more than 25 years of experience in designing analogue equipment, Focusrite produce the best mic preamps in the industry. The preamps found in the Scarlett 2i2 are no exception to this, and share the same design as those found in our flagship interfaces: Saffire PRO 40 and Liquid Saffire 56.

Excellent Digital Performance
With 24-bit resolution at sample rates of up to 96 KHz, the digital conversion in the Scarlett 2i2 is of very high quality meaning that every note and every subtle detail is captured with great clarity.

Rugged Metal Unibody Case
The anodised aluminium unibody chassis ensures that your Scarlett 2i2 can withstand the harsh environment of the road. It also makes Scarlett 2i2 the most beautiful interface around.

Truly Portable Interface
Scarlett 2i2 is very light and compact making it easy to fit in a laptop bag. Its also bus powered meaning that you dont need an additional power supply. Simply plug in to your computer and hit record!

Included Software DAW and Effects
Inside the box youll find Ableton Live Lite 8, as well as Focusrites Scarlett plug-in suite. Compatible with all major DAWs, Scarlett plug-in suite provides EQ, Compression, Gate and Reverb essential tools for polishing your mix.

Unique LED Gain Halos
The gain halos which surround the gain knob for each input provides an easy way to know that the signal youre recording is the right level. It will show green when the signal is at a good level (above -24dBFS). If it turns to red, you know that the signal is too loud and is therefore clipping if this happens, simply reduce the gain until the halo returns to green.

Direct Monitor Function
Flick the direct monitor switch on the front panel of your 2i2 and you will hear what youre recording through your speakers or headphones, without the signal having to go through your computer. This avoids the possibility of latency, which can be distracting when recording.

Mac OSX Lion Ready
Scarlett 2i2 has been fully tested with Mac OSX 10.7, Lion. So you can rest assured that your brand new Mac and Scarlett 2i2 will run together perfectly!

I got this leas than a year ago and it is now malfunctioning. One day it was fine, then the gain indicators flashed red, I heard a sustained static sound, and the unit died. I unplugged it, and reconnected. Now there is a strange intermittent crackling, which is well documented online, that goes away when you disconnect the USB. My best guess is a grounding issue with the unit. It's a shame because I loved everything else about the unit, especially direct monitoring. I didn't buy the warranty - and will not be purchasing another Focusrite product.

Poor pre-amps (45 db gain) with not a good (enough) noise level make this purchase a waste of 200 bones - useless with any dynamic mic. Poor latency as well. Any company (Focusrite) that sells a SM 57 packaged with this interface is plain stupid. Save up for something worth buying.

In over 20yrs of mixing and working pro audio, I've never heard of this issue. When you "hot swap" a condensor mic (or a regular one) with phantom on, you can ruin the entire input stage thus rendering your interface useless. Very poor quality and design on their part. Ive been speaking with Focusrite regarding this and the say "yeah...it could happen.. ", yet everything I read online regarding the issue indicates that you will ruin the unit. Very dissapointed. Worked fine one day, then dead. I should mention that I searched quite a bit to see if other interfaces have this issue and I can't find anything. It's good unit when it works, but the manual makes NO MENTION of turning phantom power off during mic swapping (likely because It should not effect the unit...yet it does).

Got this unit to use in a measurement rig for speaker design. Sound quality is great, I like the solid aluminum case, but the knob quality is poor. First, the gain knobs on the inputs need some paint so you can see the notch where they are set, I had to paint them myself with some white out. Second problem with the knobs is that they don't move smoothly. They have a tenancy to stick a bit which makes small adjustments difficult. AKAI EIE Pro has MUCH nicer knobs. Headphone output is mediocre, gain knob touchy again, but not a feature I'll use that often.

I've been using this for over a year now for my portable recording. It's a great device but be aware that this device may NOT work with ASUS or ACER laptops. My previous laptop died and I purchased and returned 3 different laptops before the current Lenovo did not produce annoying side-effects. I also instore tested many laptops by bringing in the Scarlet device to PC retailer. various ACER and ASUS produced a very loud hum. This is due to the physical configuration of the laptop and not providing sufficient power for phatom powered devices (condenser mics). The Focusrite team provided great support! They responded daily and were very interested in my findings. So much so, they sent me a Tshirt for all my field testing. All in all, great sound, fast set-up, great support but your condensor mic may be very noisy depending on your hardware.

I bought this and i wasn't expecting a lot from a 170$ audio interface. Well, i got really surprise by its performance. Recording is just perfect! Sounds like a studio audio interface but for normal people. I recommend this items to those who are starting and are looking for good stuff for a fair price but also for everyone who is just looking for good stuff at a fair price.

Plug and play. It gets the guitar or mike into the PC. The overall quality is very high. I also use it to transfer analogue tapes. I use it as a 'traveling light' practice amp- telecaster-focusrite-laptop-pc speakers. I'm new to PC recording, but it comes with some software, my laptop has no optical disc drive but you can download everything from Focusrite and Ableton sites, it works in FL studio fine and even in skype. Have not had any 'clipping' issues. I'm very happy with it.

Same problem as the poster above, into GR5 or TH2 with a straight cable and out to headphones. Clipping occurs with both n3 noisless and dimarzio humbuckers on a strat and a lay paul respectively. Tried the $50 TubeMP[sp?] and this doesn't happen even at 192k conversion rate and lower latencies. try the steinberg @ 150bucks ?

Tried this interface out because of the great price, but unfortunately I had the same issue as others with clipping. Even with the gain all the way down I could not get a decent sound out of it. My pickups are not even active; DiMarzio D Activator 8s. So, save your money/time and try something else!

I just bought this and use it only as a DAC / soundcard; I just play music / audio through it, no recording or line in etc. For this purpose, it is a sweet little device, I couldn't be happier with it. It plugs-and-plays in my linux workstation, out of the box, with no drivers needed other than what come with a recent linux distro.

Works 100% perfectly with both my Strat and Takamine w/ on-board pre-amp. I had the interface up and running within minutes of plugging it into my computer (Windows 7 64-bit). Installed drivers, plugged a guitar in, adjusted the gain and it works fine. Solid construction, although the knobs/switches are plastic.

I recently purchased this soundcard. Out of the box I was extremely impressed with the build. Very rugged, could easily with stand a drop. Very compact and pretty sleek. Other then that, unfortunately if you have Active pickups, humbuckers, will automatically cause clipping. Even with the gain rolled all the way off. The only way to loose clipping is too use the "line" line in... Doing this will ruin the guitars tone. There is no way around this unfortunate malfunction. Making it basically unusable to guitarists. Save your time.

I bought this little sound card box to replace an M-Audio Mobile Pre that to be honest just sounded pretty crappy and the frequency specs on this 2i2 were superior. Pulled it out of the box, installed the drivers off the disc to my work iMac and blamo! Amazing. No problem detecting the sound card. I noticed an immediate difference in my playback quality. Solid, tight, and clean and virtually no background noise when cranked. This is exactly what I needed for this little work desk setup and it hardly breaks the bank! Excellent job Focusrite!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
