Virtual analog synthesis has come a long way since the first Nord Lead - the Wave transcends the virtual analog realm by adding samples to the synthesis process. Traditional synthesizer sounds are produced by sound generators such as oscillators, which are then molded by an array of filters and envelopes. While much can be done within various synthesizer models, the characters of their sounds are dependant on the types and number of sound generators available - the greater the variety and number, the greater the palette of "colors" that can be shaped by the synth model.
The Nord Wave includes not only analog oscillators, but FM operators, wavetables, and samples as sources of sound, creating the greatest available palette of "colors" imaginable, and incorporating them all within the synth enviromment. Create an analog-style lead, a glossy FM-style pad, a bright comp from wavetables, or play back a dry sample all from the same Nord keyboard - or combine them to create something truly unique.
