Les Paul Standard Plaintop
Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940's when Les, working late at night at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created what might have been the world's first solidbody electric guitar, better known as "The Log." Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone luthiers reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. Epiphone always made a good guitar, Les often said.
Perhaps Les greatest achievement, the Les Paul Standard, remains one of the most sought after guitars in the world 50 years since its first issue. Now, Epiphone's Les Paul Standard brings you the classic features and tone of Les invention with legendary Epiphone quality and value.

Players like Jimmy Page, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Alex Lifeson and countless others have loved the unique look and tone of the classic that Les Paul created years ago. And now, you too can experience the Les Paul Standard at a price that won't break the bank!

Overall an amazing guitar. I would definitely recommend this over a Gibson. Not only is it a third of the price but the construction is top notch and the materials sturdy. I replaced the alnico pickups with a pair of EMG 81 and 85's and the tone is astounding. I can pound out metal and play soft blues rhythm's and this baby sings like an angel. Oh, and the honeyburst is just gorgeous to look at. I would highly recommend this, especially if you put some EMG's in too.

When I first got this guitar I was just so excited to be getting my first guitar. I have had it for a year, and it plays great and stays in tune. The only issues I have with it are that it is VERY heavy, which is not so bad, but annoying. And the nut on it's 1/4 inch jack may come off. But it's a great guitar and for a beginner, you could do a whole lot worse than this guitar. It's amazing!

overall my guitar and the review are amazing i got my epiphone les paul honeyburst on sept 23, 2011 on my birthday. and it kicks alot of tones threw the roof with my peavey bandit 112, and boss gt - 8. i can't belive the sounds im getting it sounds just like a gibson les paul and im 17 years of age but my cousin has fender guitars and a gibson les paul studio, and im telling you, what ever his les paul sounds like i can plug my les paul in and will sound close enough to be the same but yeah this guitar sounds amazing for everything from heavy metal, to rock and blues, its amazing but most of all i get the most greatest sound for the song rocket queen by guns n' roses, if i were you i would buy it, and you will get a huge surprise when you plug that little devil in and all the tones you will get with whatever effects pedal and amp you have. thanks, from a kid in cape breton n.s. canada :) and i have 11 guitars aha with 4 amps. thanks again. :)

It took me a bit of looking to find mine, and I've played a few lemons during my search, but I'm still glad I bought it in the end. Plays and sounds great even when stacked up against the 'real' Gibson L.P.s.

The moment I saw this guitar, I fell in love. I wouldn't be lying if I told you I was aroused by this guitar. I had to play it, and when I saw the amazing price tag I had to buy it. I bought this guitar in December 2011. This is my third guitar (I own a Yamaha ERG 121C, Seagull S6 Original, and now this guitar). I'm running it through a Vox VT20+. I can nail tones from Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Kiss, all the big arena rock bands and more. It's perfect for Rock N' Roll. It's also perfect for blues, it's perfect for anything really. The cleans are awesome, and you can get any kind of distortion from a nice fuzz, to a little overdrive, to that nice crunchy distortion, and more. You can get screaming leads on it too, which I love. If you throw an Ibanez Tubescreamer infront of this, you better watch out. You'll unleash a beast. Keep your loved ones out of the room for their own safety. I have no fret buzz, no problems whatsoever. It stays in tune PERFECTLY. I change tunings quite alot, usually from Standard to Eb (Half Step Down), to DAGDAD, and it always stays in perfect tune. The Finish is out of this world. I have the Honeyburst finish and it's amazing. I was going to get the Tobacco Sunburst finish but my store only had the Honeyburst. In the end, I'm glad they did because I love this finish more. One of my buddies got a Tobacco Sunburst Epi. LP Standard and I've been able to compare them side by side, and I can say I like mine better (but maybe that's just because it's mine. lol.) I threw some Black Gibson speed knobs on it, black pickup rings, and a black/silver selector switch washer, and all the likes. It looks awesome with the cream binding on the side, and everyone digs it. I'm looking to get some Zebra Style Pickups to make it look even better. And I'm going to mod it and throw in some coil taps. Hopefully I'll get my Strap Locks in the mail soon, too. Seriously. You would be a fool not to get this thing. It is AMAZING for the price.

A great guitar. Nothing comes close to a Les Paul. The feel, the worm tone, the look of a truly classic guitar. Everything its big brothers has but the big price.

In order for you to get a Gibson of equal quality and tone, you'll have to pay four times the amount. I actually prefer the plain top vs. the quilted maple. Once you change the strings, and set up the action and intonation to your preference, you won't regret purchasing this. It plays great, it sounds great.

Love it, play it all the time. Only noticed a little buzz on the 5th string when I get a little over aggressive. Can't seem to track the culprit down.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
