I bought this guitar on sale, best choice I have ever made. Straight out of the box, you plug it in, tune it up, sounds great. This is THE guitar for people like me who can't spend much, but know a good tone when they hear one. You can play anything on this. I've found myself playing the Doom theme and Twenty One Pilots music in the same jam session. Quite versatile. The guitar itself is a work of art, always has been. the finish was flawless and it still is. Overall, if you're a beginner and like the look of the guitar, it won't be a waste buying it. You can't go wrong with THIS guitar for $250.

Hands down coming from a guy who played for 20 years this has to be one of the worst guitars you'll ever buy. It's extremely over priced considering what the going rate of one of these new is. I owned one for about four months and it was a dust magnet. Being a big black sabbath fan or not I had to get rid of this. the guitar pretty much falls apart by itself , the tuners will not stay in tune for more than 5 days of light use. Say an hour or so of play a day. This means you'll go through a lot of strings or go through a lot of batteries in your tuner. The fret work is atrocious. Out of the box unless you take one to a guitar tech and pay around the guitars asking price to get the frets leveled it will buzz crazy and a setup won't fix this issue. This means no low string action to rip those ultimate guitar tabbed solos. the parts are the cheapest they could use. If epiphone could have used a plastic neck or body they would have. The wiring on SG guitars I find to be out dated on say the sg-400 but this isn't horrible. The pickups even if you put them right up to the strings as height matters you'll still hate the sound of the guitar through the amp. So by the time you put a new set of pickups in (350-ish) , new this and that to address the issues..congratulations you either bought an SG-400 or Gibson sg standard or gibson sg special. Unlike the gibson you could have bought you just put a race car engine in a cheap import car. if you like the SG shape and want a quality sg I always tell people about the LTD viper guitars as they are close to the sg shape the made in Korea ones especially, perhaps a used korean/japanese Schecter, Jackson , dean, bc rich warlock or agile. I'll take anything over an sg special.

I bought this guitar for my brother. I spent a day with it before he got it and i fell in love with it. In fact the only negative thing i have to say is that the fret ends were a bit sharp, but not so bad that it hurt when sliding your hand up and down the neck. Out of the box the neck relief measured at 0.010", which is right where you want to be for a 12" radius neck. The action was already pretty good, but i lowered it at the bridge just a bit more for more comfortable soloing. I changed the strings and adjusted the intonation (only a few quick adjustments needed). After that she played so comfortably, i lost track of time. Pickups are decent, not bad at all for an import budget guitar. I got some good classic rock tones, and metal tones depending on which pedals i was using. definitely versatile (although i didn't get much of a bluesy tone, didn't spend too much time trying either though). You could buy an upgraded set and still not have spent too much. Tuning was very stable too! out of the box i tuned it up, played a bit, left it alone for a couple hours, and when i came back she was still in tune. Overall i was very happy with this guitar. If you're willing to put a little bit of work into it to set it up, or are willing to pay a professional to set it up, it's more than worth the price.

Great for practice and awesome sustainability. Great value and amazing tones and playability, feels effortless and lots of fun...recommend using it on the Fender Mustain 1, can't beat the price for the pair and options are unbelievable

this is a good guitar for people who like to customise their guitar. i see this guitar as a blank canvis ready to become your work of art. it already starts you off by throwing in the killswitch giving you the ability to make a tremillo sound when you need it. it has an amising look, is a strong guitar when accedently dropped, and light to carry. this guitar has alot of charter when you use effect pedals too. i use this guitar for band practices and is the guitar i use to make my own music with. this guitar covers just about all genres of music from acoustic to death metal. personally i use it for grunge and punk. this guitar is great to start with and great for people who cant afford a 400$ guitar. this is my second guitar ( my first was a les paul jr) and works great with all guitar players. defenitly, check it out.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
