I bought this because of the price, it was on sale. I wanted something nice to help me commit to continued playing as I learn. It's heavier than other guitars I picked up and held, but feels really good in my hands, nice and solid. It sounds amazing, a kind of jack of all trades with the dark and bright sounds it can pump out. Can't go wrong with a les paul as my first guitar!

I have a collection of 26 guitars, and this Black Beauty purchased in Jan.2013 is amazing, I own a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Standard Desert Burst and this is my other take to gigs and studio guitar. Amazing value, it stays in tune, the finish is one of the best, the real rosewood fret board is perfect, the frets, jumbo heaven! I did my own set up and raised the neck and bridge pick ups to the max, they are twice as loud. I even bought a cheap Epiphone Special II black with vintage tear drop sunburst, put on real Gibson knobs and it's my G open slide axe. I love it! I own over 7 Epiphones, they are great for the value! I got my for $475.00 now there over $575, without case, trying to sell it, if it doesn't sell, I will keep it!

This is my second guitar ever. I just got this guitar yesterday. I chose it over the SG because the SG was a little small and awkward also, the Les Paul design is such a classic. I mean, Jimmy Page played on it!!! It's a bit heavy and my strap came off one or two times. The pickups work very well. I also got the case and it was a hundred dollars, but I suggest getting the case, it works really well, but it's t is heavy to carry around. This is the best you can get for this price. I won't need a guitar for years. Awesome job Epiphone!

I've had this guitar since 2004. It's seen many gigs and a couple slams. A cracked neck repair and more character then a 100 year old man. plan on going and buying one in white this weekend after going through countless Jackson's

What a great guitar. I bought mine used...2014 model. I've had a number of Korean made epi's over the years but this Chinese model tops them all in quality and sound. I've been at this game for more than 45 years so I know a good guitar when I come across one. I'm setting it up exclusively for jazz and am excited about how it's going to be armed with flatwounds. This is definitely not just a beginner's guitar. Please don't buy into the myth about Chinese guitars being inferior. Some great instruments are coming out of that country now. Shop with your ears, not your eyes.

I haven't had many electric guitars and this is like my 2nd guitar. It is quite an upgrade. It has a great body, beautiful design and it's great it has quite a selection of eq to tinker around with. Shipping was pretty fast considering Christmas was around the corner when I ordered it. It was worth my $500 dollars. I made an instrumental with it and there wasn't all that much high 'air' sound when I used it. So it's great for recording with compared to my last guitar. It has a pretty fat sound when I plugged it into Hardcore (A VST on FL Studio) but I recommend getting an amp. The only problem I have with it so far, is the strings. I'm not entirely sure if it's the strings or I'd have to get the neck/body adjusted to have that perfect open strumming sound. I tried tuning it to a perfect open strum sound but when I played a chord it sounded out of tuned. Other than that it's a great guitar and probably worth it to get it adjusted if strings aren't the problem.

I am a beginner, and this guitar has done everything I could ask for. It was love at first strum for me. Feels great and has sold me on Epiphone. It is impossible to put down. I have it on my lab as I type this. One thing this guitar lends it's self to is what I call the baby factor. This guitar is my baby. Do not touch it unless i say you can. You drop it, you buy me 2 more guitars of my choosing. You put a large mark in it, I get expensive taste for the two guitars you buy me. I am over protective of it and love it HUGELY. True Story: When I was at Long & Maquade, i was only looking at stratocastors. When I asked a guy for help he showed a few strats that I didn't like too much. On my way out I saw a Les Paul. I said "I like that style, what guitars do have like that?" The guy helping us (I am still trying to remember his name) grabbed a Epiphone special II in ebony, I played it and found it felt a bit cheap, so the guy went into the back and found the Studio, and brought it out. I am playing that guitar now. I can't put it down. I have improved majorly with my guitar skills, and if I ever go on stage, this is what I will be playing.

I have been a drummer for 25 years and recently had the "epiphany" moment on the guitar and got addicted right quickly. This guitar is worth every penny, especially if you are a beginner. Great sound, awesome sustain, all around great for the price. I just wanted to add... I bought this from the Steeles west location in North York, ON. I had put money down last week and picked it up today with a friend of mine. I NEED to mention the salesman. I didn't get his name, but he wears musical note earrings. This guy was AWESOME. Before we left we had a little chat at the door. This guy is all class. I explained that I was a drummer just getting a guitar. He talked to us, gave us anecdotes, and boosted our confidence through the roof before we left. The whole ride home all we talked about is going for a coffee/beer with this guy. I would hire this guy without a second thought. Way to go Long & McQuade! Awesome guitar and even better sales person. I will always shop Long & McQuade

Awesome guitar. Great sound and feel. I'm a drummer by trade but this guitar makes me want to play it. The price isn't high and the quality is surprisingly high. Doesn't have all the oohs and awes of a dressed up lp with all the fixings but it's not the shoes that make the athlete. Go out and get it. I most def recomend!

Don't wait too long to get your hands on this awesome, awesome axe! They sell fast! There were only 2 others in ebony and I got mine in pelham blue (though it's not listed above) at $374.75 - lovely finish, it's kind of metallic and glittery. Peeled off the humbucking pickups and scratchguard plastic covers ceremoniously as I would every guitar I took home for the 1st time. It's simple, yet so very well made. Two thumbs up! Great value! It sounded great with the stock strings but once re-strung with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt, it just blew me away. Very playable, and for someone with acoustic background who's looking for a clean, fat sound with a twang if needed, this LP is just the perfect beginner electric guitar. Keep up the friendly service L&M!!!

I have owned this guitar for 3 years and love it! It is just as good as guitars that cost twice as much it has great tone and stays in tune very well. The only problems i have had is the original strings where junk and only lasted a few months and the pickup selector switch quit working in the rythm position but other than its been great.

I bought this guitar from a friend at the beginning of last summer for 160$ and this is the nicest Epiphone LP i ever tried... it was relatively new when i bought it from my firend, he owned it for 3 months and lost interest. mine is white with rosewood fingerboard and sounds magnificent!

For the low price of $390, you can get a very solid (quite literally, the thing is a heavy!) guitar. I've had mine for just over a year and the really only noticeable flaws are that the frets are starting to wear a bit, the bridge pickup volume knob was loose, and that the input jack nut was virtually stripped when I got it. I would have liked to see some shinier pickups, but considering it's Gibson counterpart retails for upwards of $900, this is a great buy!

Did my research online and decided to test one at my Toronto Long & McQuade. For about $400 you get incredible bang for your buck. This is a perfect electric guitar for those just starting out. I bought mine in January 2010 and have never re-strung it or had it set-up, and still plays fine. I considered myself a beginner/intermediate player when I purchased it. I have some an acoustic background. My guitar is the black finish with a rosewood set neck. I'd love to try the maple neck model. It feels a little bit heavier than most guitars it's size, but still feels & looks quite like a standard Gibson Les Paul, without the bells & whistles. The Epiphone Les Paul Studio comes standard with Grover tuning keys... my G string doesn't hold tune perfectly but the others hold tune quite well. My amp is a Line6 Spider IV 75, it's no tube amp but the guitar's tone holds up relatively well. I have not tried my guitar with any other amplifier. Just recently snapped the top half of the toggle switch right off. It was simply knocked over while on a stand. Getting that fixed, along with a set-up and re-string next week. You can't find a better guitar for this price. Simply amazing value for your dollar. I would highly recommend this as an electric starter guitar for all ages.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
