The GT-EL34M was shown at NAMM. This tube is based upon a tube which is considered something of an icon to EL34 users in both the audio world and guitar amp world. There were a number of variants of the original tube and GT chose the classic XF2 dual getter version to reproduce. The original was a classic and this tube is on it's way to developing it's own great track record just as the GT-6L6GE, E34LS, and KT88SV proprietary tubes. This tube is now available in matched quads and duets.

Installed these in my un-modified 1983 JCM800 2204. Very low noise floor, and very chimey. Tight, solid low-end. Warm, emphasized mid-range. High-end is sweet and rounded when clean, smooth and without harshness or fizziness when overdriven.
Overall, a very musical tube suited to many styles. Great clarity, definition and touch sensitivity. Especially shines with overdrive and distortion.
I used new Tung Sols previously, which have a distinct 6L6 flavour to their sound. These GTs are all EL in their characteristics, really bringing out that classic Marshall sound, but only after about 3 or 4 hours of burn-in time (they were a little thin out of the box).
