I’ve had a few days to play the amp with the stock tube back in the amp and with a few different guitars.
Most of what I said in the original review is still valid, but in fairness, I would say the EH tube WAS a bit warmer in comparison to the stock tube.

I changed out the stock tubes on my Laney LC15R amp after a lot of reading which pointed me to change to this tube for a warmer clean tone.
(The Fender George Benson amp uses a 12AT7 tube, so one might think a nice warm jazzy clean tone is the goal with this tube choice.)
I know there can be a wide spectrum in both tone of tubes and duration of the life span of tubes.
It only just lasted two years before I had to replace it.
I use the amp only in the house. No gigs, so no moving, jarring, loading etc. I would estimate on average about two hours a week of use.
I would consider these fairly stable conditions of use.
I replaced the whole set at the same time. The other tubes are still going strong, and give me a very satisfying tone.(Did I just jinx myself there?)
I put the stock tube back in the amp after this one failed, and I can’t honestly say I noticed a huge difference in tone.
Is it my ears? A bad example of this tube? Bad luck? Who knows for sure.
What I would say is with a couple of more years under my belt and more reading and playing experience to go along with it, there are so many variables that go into tone (pick, strings, pickups, playing style, the guitar itself, and yes the amp, including the speaker and tubes chosen) that to have expected a total tonal difference from one element of that equation was naive on my part.
If you’re like me, chasing certain tones you’ve heard from favourite performances, you’ll likely engage in a few of these experiments seeking ‘that tone.’
It would have been more realistic of me to realize there’s more than one element that makes up the whole experience.
