A tribute to the decade that made the P Bass® an icon, the Classic Vibe '60s Precision Bass embodies the aesthetics of the original and produces massive tone courtesy of its Fender-designed alnico split-coil pickup. Player-friendly features include a slim and comfortable "C"-shaped neck profile with an easy-playing 9.5"-radius fingerboard and narrow-tall frets, as well as a vintage-style bridge with threaded saddles. This throwback Squier model also features 1960s inspired headstock markings, nickel-plated hardware and a slick vintage-tinted gloss neck finish for an old-school aesthetic vibe.

American parts assembled by other people. My 2002 bass is no different than a US or MIM Fender P-Bass, aside from the origin sticker/patch denoting region of build. Same exact animal - in my case, built better than 1980's US Fenders I once knew. Tight, solid, resonant, it's a P-Bass, like any other, at 1/2 or 1/4 the cost of a polished ' Made in USA ' example.

This is my first Bass I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to. I've had it for 8 mths and will take it in for my first set up soon. I want to get Flats on it and will see what difference that makes in sound. It looks great , stays in tune. Sofar it's a great starting point in my bass journey.

I don't need another Fender. Baby Dove bought me this for a birthday present. She was worried one of the older, more valuable instruments would get stolen or damaged at the pubs. Side by side, this can compare but you just can't beat the price. I put very fancy strings on this sucker. Something reserved for the more expensive. The finish is very pretty. Sound/feel and lighter too. Can't go wrong. Brand spanking new at pawn shop prices. Thanks L&M!

In my bass playing journey, I’ve found to enjoy and appreciate the Precision Bass. It has a simple one volume, one tone, control panel and a vintage tone of the early 60’s P-Basses. Build quality is top notch. I’ve smashed this thing around and have been careless with it (not recommended, be nice to your instruments) and it’s just fine, the dings are small and un-noticable. Now for my subjective cons (which are only my personal preference). The glossy neck finish is terrible, it gets sticky and collects finger residue very easily. Then there’s the neck width, some people like a wider neck but with my hand size (slightly smaller than average) I prefer the Jazz Bass neck. Don’t get me wrong, this bass is amazing, but I recommend getting an upgrade within a year.

No Better Bass For The Money 4 of 4 customers found this review helpful

I have owned this bass for three months and I couldn't be more pleased. It sounds amazing. Before I bought, I did a lot of research and online listening that compared this Squier model to other basses including higher-priced MIA Fenders. For sound, only the MIA Custom Shop Fenders were better, but only slightly (to my ear). For this price, you won't find better value for the money. If you find one online somewhere -- buy it quick. For some reason, Fender (Squier) doesn't list this model any longer in their line-up. Don't know why. Too good for the money? Will it return to their line-up?

I have to say, I’m a big fan of Squier guitars and basses. I’m a fan of Fender instruments in general, but I would not consider myself a ‘gear snob’ by any stretch. There are excellent instruments being made in Indonesia these days (especially in the vintage modified and classic vibe series Squiers), and for a fraction of the cost of the ‘big brother’ Fender stuff. I bought this bass wanting a basic precision, my opinion started out as ‘wow, great bass for the money’.....before long, the more I played it and set it up to my own preferences, I realized this bass plays and sounds just about as good as any fender I’ve had my hands on. There's not THAT much difference. I’ve played expensive Fender Precisions that, in all honesty didn’t feel/sound like they should be 3 x the price (or more) of a bass like this. At the time I bought this bass, there wasn’t much in the way of reviews for it anywhere online, but I took a chance on it, because I wanted just a basic precision bass, the price was right and in my experience with the ‘classic vibe’ series, they’re quality instruments, on par with the more expensive fenders. I’m quite happy I did! Bottom line: for under $500, you really can’t go wrong. I know there are probably a lot of folks out there that’d tell you you’re foolish not to spend a Bit more and ‘upgrade’ to a Mexican fender, but lets face it: musicians are often on a budget.......and if you can save money and have a bass that feels and sounds like this classic vibe 60’s precision, why would you spend more money?

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
