S Series Electric Guitar - Silver Wave Black
This product is no longer available.
The cutting edge of Ibanez design, the S series continues to be a marvel of form and function. Its signature body shape - sculpted, lightweight, and mahogany - is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. The S series is still a rock 'n' roll version of a quick, graceful, and potentially lethal weapon.

Features

  • The Jatoba Fretboard has a reddish brown colour and produces a rich mid range with a crisp high end.

  • Wizard III Maple neck - Ibanez's thin, flat, and fast, yet strong and sturdy, Wizard neck offers unlimited playability for demanding players, and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for wide tonal range.

  • The Quantum pickups provide accelerated bass response for exceptionally fast tracking of high-speed staccato riffing with crushing mid range and precise high-end articulation.

The good: Looks very nice and the jumbo frets are nice to play. Body feels sleek and light. The neck could be smoother, but nothing to complain about. Guitar offers nice versatility with its 5-way selector. The bad: first one I ordered came with a faulty truss rod and had to be returned. New one has some weird white powder around the power jack and the bridge. Whammy bar send the guitar out of tune pretty easily. Power jack is a real pig to plug into and remove. The pickups still seem set really high despite the set-up. Overall, pretty cool guitar though.

I'm new to Guitar and this item fit my budget and my desired look. All I can say is it looks 100% to picture and quality appears good. Both humbuckers do sway back and forth when pushed lightly like it's on a rocker and not solid. Unclear if that's normal. Took over a week when I attempted to order from store, gave up got refund. Ordered online from website and shipped to house in less than 48hrs which was a positive experience. Zero idea why shipping to my own home vs store is so much faster as it's 5min drive away. I'll update after I bring into store for full setup. If all goes well I would say 4.5 to 5.0 on all values rated.

Response from Long & McQuade

Hi Kevin, just wanted to comment on your review...the pickups are just held in with the 2 screws that you see on top, this is so you can easily adjust the pickup height, and yes they are always a bit wobbly. Don't tighten them, pickup height adjustment is part of your free set up. RE: why its quicker on line. Think of the webstore as it's own store rather than an extension of your local store. We operate on our own. So if the store didn't have it then they would have to get it from our supplier, which could add 1-3 weeks to an order. If we have it in stock we ship the next day, so we tend to be much faster. But sometimes the opposite is true. If ever you need something faster just let us know, we'll do what we can. Enjoy your new guitar! Justin Furgason

Before I bought I looked for reviews and couldn't find any except a video review that wasn't in English. This might be the first written review for this guitar on the web. The finish looks great with the silver wood grain showing through the black paint. The neck is a matte/satin finish. Fretwork is very nice no problems with them. I did have to do some minor adjustments to the rod and tremolo springs -nothing major. The pickups sound pretty good for stock -maybe a bit bassy .Maybe I'll change them later but for now they're good. The Jatoba fretboard is nice and smooth and is a caramel color not the deep brown of rosewood. I do like the look of it though.Thin wide neck is exactly what I needed ( my fingers are somewhat fat ) The body is thin and light ash wood and is very ergonomic. The guitar sounds very good and plays well too (loving the flat radius of the fretboard) Took a chance and ordered one on sale .As always L&M shipped promptly. Would I buy it again if something (God Forbid) happened to it .Yes absolutely. My only real problem with this guitar is the recessed jack- it is hard to get the plug out of it but a cable with a longer plug should solve that issue

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
