Long known for it's history of making great Les Paul guitars, Epiphone expands upon that knowledge and experience with the NEW Les Paul Acoustic/Electric ukulele outfit. Like a traditional Les Paul Standard, it features a solid Mahogany body combined with a AAA grade flame maple top for great tone and great looks. The Mahogany neck features a comfortable D-profile shape and is bolted onto the body with 4-recessed screws for rock-solid stability and ease of service. Its Rosewood fingerboard features a concert length 15" scale and 21 nickel/silver frets with a 16" fingerboard radius.

Unplugged, this Les Paul Uke has great natural acoustic tone and volume. But plug it in and it really comes alive. Equipped with a high-quality, piezo film pickup located under the saddle, both the natural tone of the strings as well as the sound of and the body are accurately captured and routed to it's durable all-metal, rim-mounted 1/4" output jack. Plug it into a PA System or amplifier and it sounds great! And loud too!

I drove from Guelph to Waterloo to pick up one of 2 this website said they had in stock, which I had confirmed by email. When I got there, I found their stock entry was incorrect. They had a few red ones in stock, but not one of these. The salesman told me if I order it on line, I will get the $10 gift card advertised for this Ukulele. I ordered it using my cell phone, while still standing in the store. I notified much later that the warehouse had none in stock. I called around to other stores not to far away, to see if they had any as listed on the website. I found one in Woodstock, and then had to call the local store to have it transferred there. They apparently could not do that because I had ordered it on line. I had to call the warehouse to have them make arrangements to first receive it back to them, before finally shipping it to me. The shipment did not include the $10 gift card. They refused to honour the Waterloo salesman's word / mistake. I had been told the demo ukulele is "MINT". It is not. It arrived with some corroded pieces and minor damage. I gave up. I removed my large instrument order from my 'Cart', and placed that order somewhere else the same day. I prefer to support my local store. The lack of stock for items listed on the Long & McQuade website, the number of days before they begin to process your orders, largely under estimated delivery times, plus the hassles mentioned above and a few others, are all contributing to make that very difficult.

I've played a few of these, and Epi makes some great stuff. This one, not quite so for my needs. I don't really like the acoustic sound much, sounds like you just stuffed the body to a more resonant uke with newspaper and cotton balls. That said though, it's got a 14-fret neck, and a built-in pickup. The things don't play badly, and I'm inclined to think they'd make a good stage instrument with an ensemble, where another ukulele might feedback on a loud stage with monitors and noise flying everywhere. Not playing ukulele on stages, however, I'm inclined not to buy one, opting instead for a more resonant, acoustic-only model with a solid-top.

It would seem that Epiphone went for looks on this one. I love the way it looks. I have the matching guitar which was initially what drew me to it however I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the sound. At first it was that the intonation was off. Long and Mcquade bent over backwards in setting up this instrument for me however you can only work with what you have to work with as the body is too thick and the sound is just dead compared to other ukes. Even my son's $35.00 uke has a more full sound. I replaced the strings with very high quality strings and it just sounds muffled. If this was a "looks only" review it would get a 5/5 hands down, but I need an instrument that sound great and this one doesn't measure up. Not even close. Others have said that it sounds great plugged in. I disagree, it just sounds like a louder version of the muffled sound. The body just doesn't support proper sound. If it sounded great I would say it is worth the price but it is all looks and no performance. I would avoid unless you are strictly after the looks only.

I own the Cherry coloured one. I bought it because my hand gets sore and I had a 4-hour gig to play with long sets. You should have seen all the people dancing to its music! It's a natural to play "Rock and Roll", Blues, Country and pop. I bought a patch cable with an on-off switch because there is no volume control. Sounds great plugged in. Its voice is a soft played as an acoustic. I want the black sunburst one too.

Lot's fun to play. Everybody says that. Nice bluesy edge if you go looking for it. Maybe a little laid back acoustically but plug it in and it rocks. The strings that it ships with suck. Invest $10 in a set of Aquilas. Put them on immediately and your good to go. Otherwise this would be a 5 out of 5.

What a great, fun, instrument. My wife brought it for me as a anniversary gift and I haven't put it down since June. Nicely made, with a good sound. Plug it in and it gets better!
