I own a Tele and a Les Paul and love those guitars but to get the Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straits, David Gilmour tone you have to have a Strat. This is a great guitar for the money so well made and set up right out of the box. Comes with a superb case, strap etc. I am having a lot of fun with this guitar. Pickups sound incredible.

I always wanted one of these, ever since I was young, in the sixties. in my opinion thes guitars are among the very best. I never new what color I wanted, if I was wealthy I would have one of each. when I saw the three tone sunburst I new. the way I could look through the clear coat and the tones to the grain of the wood simply a work of art. Tom, at L&M checked it out made sure all was perfect. I've been enjoying it ever since. Thank you for providing excellent service.

Can't get any more strat for the same money) And American Standard is pretty reasonably priced, indeed. For a bit over thirteen hundred you get proper wood, solid build, pickups are just fantastic, and a trem that actually works and stay in tune. All those little touches, like different kind of finish on the back of the neck and fingerboard...Well worth it's price, absolutely.

I was looking for a new guitar and after an afternoon trying out different guitars, zeroed in on an American Standard. I bought one for Christmas, Olympic White with a maple fretboard, brought it home, tuned it up, plugged it in and started playing. What an amazing guitar: warm sound, clean, and comfortable to play with all the sparkle and shimmer you'd expect from a Strat! I love the Fat '50 pickups. Right out of the box, it was set up perfectly - intonation, pickup height, truss rod, ... A great experience.

Up until now, I've been playing a Les Paul Studio and to be honest (close your ears Fender), I still love that guitar. However, I was looking for something at the other end of the solid body electric guitar sonic spectrum and after an afternoon at my favourite guitar shop, zeroed in on an American Standard, Olympic White with a maple fretboard, and laid it away for Christmas. I just finished paying it off, brought it home, tuned it up, plugged it in and started playing. What a beautiful instrument: warm sound, clean, and comfortable to play with all the sparkle and shimmer you'd expect from a Strat! I love the Fat '50 pickups. Right out of the box, it was set up perfectly - intonation, pickup height, truss rod, ... It sounds great through my Blues Junior III amp too. Now I have 2 go-to sounds depending on what I am playing.

This was my first nice electric I bought. It sounds awesome, looks awesome and is really easy to play. Don't get the Fender Special Strat, as this guitar is leagues ahead of the Special...and it comes with a heavy duty case. Love the guitar and recommend this to anyone interested in playing. It can play absolutely everything, blues, rock, chords...Awesome.

I have never been a Fender guy... Until I rented one from L&M about a year ago and it's now time for her review! I initially went in to rent a Les Paul, however the rental department was out, so I rented a brand new Fender American Stratocaster in Sunburst. I now own this beautiful slice of heaven, and it's still the nicest feeling AND sounding guitar I've played to date. (and I've played alot of high end guitars...) The versatility of this guitar is incredible, and I'm now looking to purchase an American Tele! American made Fender instruments (for the most part) are worth every cent in my opinion. Legends were built on this brand!

many say music is 'art', but I beg to differ when describing this instrument. Fender puts out an incredible product, at an incredibly great value, unmatched by any other guitar manufacturer. The sound is clean and crisp, and it stays in tune. By look and feel you can see this American Standard is made with high quality hardware. The new Fat 50's single coil pickups make this a 'no brainer', and the humbucker bridge absolutely makes this one of the, if not most versatile sounding guitars. Great job by the people at Fender. Undoubtedly the best bang for the buck by a long shot when compared to the competition. The finish is flawless. From the grain in the maple neck, to the guitar body (3-color sunburst). It is evident that great care and pride is taken in putting each one of these together (at least mine) from the people at Fender. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this guitar, and after playing it, I seriously would of paid more for it (sorry Long & McQuade)

Plays so smooth, so fast. Great tone with such a wide range. A comfortable guitar to play, and the trem keeps the tune no problem. Some guitar shops are notorious for letting their instruments lose intonation/action etc, and don't let that dissuade you. A well set up Stratocaster has absolutely no rivals.

What to have chime reminiscent of Eric Johnson? or Solid Delta Blues tone? Or Fat Chicago tone? Or solid Gilmour tone? Then go try this one out and bring it home! I have three criteria when choosing a guitar. It has to look good, it has to play well, and it has to sound amazing. This one hits all three and also comes with nice players package with the case and case candy. I could talk about how the case is solid enough, you could throw it down a flight of stairs and the strat would be fine; but id rather talk about this strat. After tire kicking Gibby SG 61 Ri, Studios, The deluxe '60 ri strat, and others, i stumbled across this one which had just been received that day. The poco bros were kind enough to let me jam it out in the iso booth for about half an hour. Apparently they came in to check on me but i didnt even notice as i was in that zone. *This is how u buy a guitar folks. When it feeds your soul to the point that it has become a part of you - THAT is the guitar you buy!* This baby played so fluidly to me. Bending was so easy and dreamy. The tone was so chimey but full! (I have a mid 90s US made AmStd strat that plays just as well, but the tone seemed thin to me. This one sounds perfect to me). So after noodling some blues riffs, it was time to dial in some chording. U2 End of the World sounds great on this. Great. I EXPECT awesome drippy bell like cleans from a good quality strat. So.. time to dime up the gain and see where it goes. Do a little Run like Hell with a bit of 'verb. Nailed it. KK, lets see if she like it a little rough and dirty? Dial in a little Cherub Rock, and Even flow... again perfect. Since im here, lets try this Delta tone thing on the detent. YUP! SRV all in, bring your gators cuz we got a Texas Flood!. I know there are a lotta FoS guys that says a guitar does everything. Im not that guy. These were MY test points and it exceeded my expectations on all counts. Now, Joe Satch, John Petrucci, Steve Vai? I cant do that and i dont thing this guit would be articulate enough for that. Probably need some Dimarzio loaded Ibanez or a jackson if thats where you live. But for me, I wanted a blues strat with vintage chime that solved my tone issues with my Missisipi swamp ash AmStd. Problem solved! If there is only one (or two) things i would complain about - they are mostly non-issues. The first, I prefer the Deluxe style solid metal saddles on the vintage bridge to what this ships with (what I call 'bottle-opener' type saddles). They dont have grooves in them, and im worried about string drift when i use the trem. But thats an easy fix with a set of Graphtech saddles. The other, the nice looking strap (love the Fender cloth side) but the cheapie vynil back side. But heck, I'm gonna pass up a nice Strat on virtue of case candy? Like i said non-issues. This strat is worth looking at and is worth the few extra benjies over the Mexi-players. imo.

I traded in a Squier Classic Vibe strat (very good in its own right) to purchase the Sienna Sunburst model. It was used but in almost perfect shape. This strat is beautifully made and plays easily. Thanks to the Kamloops staff for their help in selecting this model.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
