Toby Deluxe IV
Epiphone is proud to reintroduce the classic bass that players have been waiting for: the Toby Deluxe IV. The original "Toby" brought real innovation to modern bass players. And now, Epiphone and Tobias team up again to bring back this classic design, which makes cutting edge sounds available to all bass players.

Cutting Edge Design
The Toby Deluxe IV features a solid basswood body and a flush-mount, low profile, adjustable bridge. The Toby Deluxe IV's most legendary feature is its hard maple Tobias Asymmetrical Neck profile, which is a bolt-on design with recessed bolts and washers for easy adjustments. Tobias basses were among the first to feature an asymmetrical neck, a design in which the neck is thinner on the lower side than on the upper side. The asymmetric shape feels less bulky than standard bass necks for maximum hand comfort. While these satin finished necks might "feel" thinner, there is still sufficient thickness on the upper side to provide for excellent strength, stability and best of all deep, rich tone. Your thumb will find easy reference as your hand glides up and down the fretboard. The neck has a 34" scale length for enhanced clarity, a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" fingerboard radius and a 1.68" nut. Satin finish options include Trans Amber, Trans Black, Trans Red and Walnut and Ebony.

Classic Electronics
The Toby Deluxe IV features classic Tobias-designed pickups with a Tobias SCR single coil pickup in the neck position and a Tobias SCT single coil pickup at the bridge. Controls are black, all metal knurled knobs and include Neck Volume, Pickup Blend with center Detent, and Master EQ. In addition, an Active Tonexpressor Bass Enhancement Control enables you the option of creative blends and is a powerful ally on stage when you need to make fine adjustments to cut through dense mixes. The Active Tonexpressor uses an easy-to-change 9-volt battery.

Epiphone Hardware
Epiphone is known for making the best hardware in the business. The Toby Deluxe IV includes deluxe die-cast tuners with a 14:1 ratio to ensure tuning stability along with a fully adjustable flush-mounted, low-profile bridge.

I have no complaints. It handles very well sad sounds pretty good. I do either the inlays were brighter. Sometimes I get lost on the fretboard because ofbygat or maybe because I'm relatively new to Bass.

The Epiphone Toby Deluxe IV is beautiful.. I bought it some 3 days ago decided I wanted and loved it within seconds.. I've had a lot of trouble putting this bass down since I got it.. It doesn't particularly need any effects it's perfect as it is I've recorded with it under the muddiest and most inaudible of tones and still the bass manages to find the voice of the guitar which is otherwise inaudible For about a decade and a half I've been playing electric guitar strictly bass has always been awkward and hard to play for me but this one is very different.. Tonality is beautiful, the middle EQ has 2 frequencies and it makes for a ridiculously heavy sound to record one over the other, the treble is pure tone and the bass/boost knob is insanely powerful The neck is sensational.. It's a very similar shape to the Asymmetrical Flying V neck shape.. I find this neck comfortable at any angle and hand position you play this bass and you'll fall in love.. The pickups are beautiful extremely sensitive and responsive I don't have any negative to say about them.. They sound crushing they cut through my guitar tone like butter and they look beautiful on top of all of that The fretwork done on this guitar is perfection at it's finest.. Every fret is crowned perfectly every fret is perfectly set off the edge of the neck buzzing is extremely minimal and the stock strings aren't half bad either you can buy it and record right off the shelf it will still sound great I needed a bass to clean up the tone on my late 90s boss multi effects processor which still sounds crushing.. I bought this expecting to have to tear a bass apart make a set of pickups and rewire it, This was not the case.. The look of this bass is beautiful and the sound is even better. the neck isn't awkward to reach the 4th string and the lows are absolutely destructive, you could easily knock a few paintings off the walls. I strictly play metal on guitar so I push my guitars to the limit this bass is exactly what I needed to counteract the overwhelming leads and find the voice in my rhythms.. This bass is a shock i'd recommend anybody to at least pick it up and play it.. It's more then likely you'll fall in love with it as quickly as I did and walk out with it as quickly as I did shocking everyone behind the counter.. It's worth every penny of a great price. I'm saying 10/10 I couldn't think of a way to make this bass better I've played a lot of bass guitars before buying this and this was the cheapest one I looked at and to make that even better it's the best by a long shot. It's a great buy.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
