My lovely wife bought this for me as a birthday present (well, she gave me a budget to stay in and I chose this guitar!). I was first looking at the regular woodland version, but this one just sounded a bit better and looked nicer as well. Very good balance between lows and highs, just a bit brighter sounding. The brightness is by no means unpleasant, but it really comes down to personal choice. Seasonally fluctuations in humidity in Alberta are extreme. I keep mine in a hardshell case with an in-case humidifier whenever I'm not playing. I've found that this is sufficient to keep the wood in check (I've owned other Godin brand acoustics). Something to consider for the longevity of the guitar. Buying a Canadian made guitar just makes sense to me in many ways. Overall, I'm extremely happy and pleased with this guitar. It will have a place in my collection for many years to come!

After an unfortunate mishap with my previous guitar, I decided it was time to look for one that was a little higher end. I had originally had my heart set on some of the lower end Godin line guitars like the S&P Songsmith or the Seagull Entourage, largely because I've never played anything that sounded quite so consistently good at such a price range. That is till I started to slowly creep my way up their upper model lines. I thought to myself that a solid top guitar was good enough and had talked myself into thinking that solid sides and back doesn't make much of a difference. To prove it to myself I sat down and did a double blind test with the S&P Woodland Spruce top and Woodland Pro Spruce top, and to my own amazement; yes there is a descernable difference. Not that the Woodland sounded bad, but it surprised me how much fuller the mid range presence and clarity was on the woodland pro. At that point I hopped around three different L&M stores and tried out all they had. I haven't met another manufacturer that has been able to create such consistent sound in a particular model.... and at a price below $600. I really wanted to try the Woodland Pro against the Seagull Maritime SWS, which is the identical twin with the exception of the Seagull headstock but it was no where to be found. With all that said and done, I ended up walking home with the Woodland Pro Spruce Top and I can honestly say that I love it to pieces. It's not a dolled up guitar, it's rather plain looking, but the aesthetics aren't found in the obvious burst paint scheme, but rather in the meticulous nature of the beveled end of the fret board, the wood inlay around the soundhole that looks like it's radiating outwards, the sublimely hand finished satin neck, the subtle two tone line that divides both sides of the back, and that rich well rounded tone that fills the room when you strum it. It's a plain looking guitar with a lot of good inside. When you spend some time with it and look at the details, you know it's put together by people who love the craft. I cannot recommend this guitar and those other Canadian made guitars enough. There's a consistent quality that is unmatched at the give price range. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that my old Epiphone got sat on. :)

Before buying this guitar, I had been to about 7 music stores with about 2 hours of playing different guitars in each one. After discovering the different lines of guitars under the Godin name, I had decided on a Seagull Maritime Spruce (mahogany back and sides), part of their Solid Wood Series. The only problem was I found my hands getting a bit tired and had a bit of trouble hitting certain chords due tothe necessary stretch that comes along with the 1.8 nut width that you will find on most Seagulls. At that point, I checked out the Simon and Patrick Woodland ProSpruce which had the same solid woods and quality workmanship as the Seagull Maritime Spruce...all this with a 1.72 nut width which is much closer to the nut width on my Martin and much better fit for my not so huge hands. This new S &P projects very well with both strumming and finger style...really nice tone and incredible sustain. The action was lowered a touch when I bought it and it now almost plays itself....amazing action. It has a nice woody sound and fills a large room with ease, even using fingerstyle. It also stays in tune better than my Martin, which is nice. I highly encourage you to give this one run....I bet you will like it.

I bought this guitar back in 2010 and got a Martin D16GT for Christmas not so long after I bought it. I put this guitar away for a while till recently my martin snapped and I've been using the S&P. the space between the fretboard to strings are just perfect and it sounds just like my Martin. if you were to compare the price difference, this guitar is a real bang for your buck!

I recently rented this guitar from l&m. I was really impressed with the sound and quality. I think it would sound even better with some heavier gauge strings on it. I don't think you will find a better, all solid wood acoustic in this price range. If you are looking for an acoustic for under $600, this is by far the best you can get for your money. Rent one before you think of buying any other acoustic.

This extremely attractive guitar sounds just a tad brighter than a Martin d16gt and with just a tad more on the bottom end - all that for about half the price Thank you Simon & Patrick

This solid wood acoustic is outstanding. The sound, the feel, and the look rival guitars 4 times the price. I don't understand how they sell them so cheap.

This was a great bargain in my books. All solid wood construction using great materials. The sound will stand up against any guitar, it's woody with nice harmonic content. I love it.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
