I’ve read reviews before I purchased the This amp. All I have to say is what the? This thing is crazy! Just playing it through an effects pedal and head phones, I can’t wait to play it through a cabinet! I just start to giggle when start doing power chords! A buddy saw it and started to laugh until he heard it! Amazing!

Walked into my local L&M with my daughter. She saw the amp and said "Look at that cute amp, Daddy". At first I thought yeah...it's cute. Then I plugged it in. Like my daughter this thing can scream! I was blown away at the tone you get in a proper 2 x 12 or 4 x 12 cab. I had a smile from ear to ear. I couldn't believe how loud this thing can get. I won't have to break my back anymore carrying my Marshall Head to rehearsals. This thing will do just fine. The only reason I gave the features a 4.5 is because of it's lack of FX loop. Not a deal breaker for me. Could not love this little amp more. Just go and buy it...and thank me later.

I have literally never written a review here, but this amp is so good that I felt I had to. I picked this up at my local L&M, trading in an Ibanez SA for the head. I had watched a lot of videos and reviews on this head, and I knew it was going to be good, but I was NOT prepared AT ALL for how awesome this little metal box is. For years I've used what I consider a "Sleeper amp", the Ibanez TBX150R combo, which is, in my opinion, one of the most amazing solid states out there, but it's 150 watts, so I wanted something small and I wanted to try something with a tube. When I plugged this tiny, one pound head into the 2×12 cab section I was absolutely blown away, not just by the tone, but the VOLUME. This little amp might be a hybrid and only have one 12AX7 Tube in it, but it is IMMENSELY loud. The tone control is simple, but great. Just as most reviews say, there is a crazy amount of versatility with just that one tone control from bassy and creamy to sparklingly bright. Slap an OCD or an OCD clone in the front and you don't need much else, but if you really want to see just how intense this amp can get, throw a treble boost or a distortion with a high boost in the signal chain, switch your overdrive to low, and listen to the extreme amounts of thrashy gain this amp can throw out! If you want an amazing sounding amp that you can use at home, in the studio, or at rehearsal that doesn't break the bank, but can also handle a 4x12 cab and be used for bar gigs and the like, this is THE best choice!!!

I love this amp! It doesn' have a lot of features but I like the simplicity of the EQ. It makes it easier to use with pedals. On it's own, it can sound a bit thin, not as full as an all valve amp but... add a good overdrive pedal with an active EQ to add more bass like the JHS Charlie Brown (or use a 4x12 cab) and wow, the low end is back. It is solid build, awesome value for the price and it can be freakin loud too. I plug it in my Fender Bassbreaker 1x12 cab and it's sounds awesome (with pedals). It is a lot of fun to play with too, responsive to your playing, like an all tube amp. The only thing that I don't like is the small portion of the cord for the power supply. It looks cheap and I have a feeling that part won't last long...

Like Matthew below I pair this with a Traynor 2x12(The YBX Vertical with V30's) and its a monster and plenty loud enough to gig, especially if being mic'd. It cleans up to a "pushed" clean pretty nicely when you roll your guitar's volume back and takes boosts with no problem when you want to sent it into the stratosphere. Keep in mind this amp is meant to be dirty so move on if you want pristine or sparkling clean tones. I actually like the solid state power section in combination with the tube pre-amp. Great combination of crunch and tightness. I feel no need for a bigger head for my punk style needs. Do yourself a favour if you get one, play it through a 2x12 or 4x12 and you'll quickly realize this is no toy and can rock in rehearsals and on stage.

This thing rocks! I pair it with a Traynor 2x12 with V30s and it's heavenly. The head's clean tones do well before the gain gets too high and breaks up. I use an Ibanez Tube King to switch between clean and dirty but the distortion is awesome on this! Definitely better paired with a 1x12 or 2x12 cabinet than the 1x8 that goes with it.

I have owned several amps. Most recently, an $1,800 100 watt Vintage Modern Marshal head. I can say with 100% confidence that the Micro Terror performs as well as the Marshall - which was almost 10 times the price. The trick is, you have to run it through a 4 x 12 cabinet. I bought a used Hughes and Kettner at L&M for $200. The Micro Terror has power. Save your money, do not buy an expensive full size head. Get the Micro Terror and a good 4 x 12 cabinet.

I needed an inexpensive, practical temporary solution until funds were available for my ideal amp/cab rig. I needed a late night, portable head that sounded decent, if equipped with a headphone jack even better. For what I paid I was not expecting what I actually heard from this tiny unit. The bar was pretty low considering a class D solid state power source and an external brick style power supply. First I plugged in my very old very worn out AKG K141s, and my jaw dropped…Volume, Shape and Gain are all very sensitive and the broad range of tone is nothing short of amazing. I considered the Micro Dark, but a 4 stage gain circuit for my needs is unnecessary. The gain on this amp is plentiful and precise when dialled in (blues, classic rock). The quality, fit and finish is outstanding. Very fun amp to play with without breaking the bank.

Got this for xmas. Received it on the 23rd. Cool little amp and for me personally I love just looking at it. So small and obviously light but pretty powerful! More than loud enough for fiddling around at home. Eventually would like to try it in a 2x12. If you have the chance to scoop one up, do it. cant go wrong with the price and like I said its terribly cute little amp. Get one!!!

This is a great little head! I've had it for about a year now with the matching cab - not a single issue. Immense tonal range for something this inexpensive, although a distortion pedal really helps beef up the sound. This thing works quite well with larger cabs and makes a quite convenient backup head, being just loud enough through a 4x12 to be heard over a heavy footed drummer, although the key word here is "just". Best practice amp money can buy!

as a pop-punk musician, this amp sounds great right out of the box. Like most people said, yes this can stand up to a band, and rock a 4x12. Coming from a 5 piece band (vocals, 2 guitars, bassist, drummer) where some members are influenced by metal core, this amp has just enough gain. with just the amp, a cab, and my 2013 Gibson 50's tribute Les Paul, i can get that "warped tour" guitar type tone. perfect for recording as well (especially any Beartooth cover). This is the perfect amp for bands who are starting to play live, and want that perfect tone. Sometimes, the simplest rig gives you the best tone.

I picked this up on their boxing week sale and it's amazing for the price! Hooked up to a 4x12 cab, this head rips hard! It's so tiny, I never would have imaged it could drive a cab as hard as it does. I haven't tried it with a band yet, but I really think it should be loud enough to jam with a band with a bigger cab. For the money there is no reason not to own one of these!

When I first tried it I didnt expect much out of it.... Then I decided to really play through it and was surprised at how loud it is.

For the price and size, this thing is in a league of its own. Great tone - not quite vintage tube amp but a cheap approximation and it sounds better than any $150 overdrive/tube pedal I've heard plus it's a handy little (tiny) 20W head.

By itself, it's good for anything from clean to crunchy rock, but to get that extra metal kick, you need a good overdrive pedal (I use the Maxon OD808). For a 20 watt hybrid, it's extremely loud and puts out more than any other small practice amp could.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
