The Geddy Lee Jazz Bass guitar is an exact replica of the tonally singular instrument that Rushs revered bassist/vocalist has riffed away on in front of millions of devoted fans worldwide and on many a mega-selling album.

The bass has an alder body; the thin one-piece C-shaped maple neck has a maple fingerboard with black binding and black rectangular position markers. The two vintage Jazz Bass single-coil pickups crackle with life and bristle with the energy. Other features include chrome hardware, vintage-style tuners and a Badass Bass II bridge.

I've played everything over the years and this one is the most versatile, easiest to play, best sounding bass I've ever owned. Wow is all I have to say. The workmanship is amazing and the feel just makes you want to play all day long. It's like butter. It's pretty much near perfect.

Killer bass. Everything about it is great. If you want a 1972 Jazz but can't fork over the hundreds of thousands of dollars people are asking for, this bass will do that craving justice. It has the looks AND the tone of a 1972 Jazz (well close to it).

Been playing for over 50 years. I go way back to when our basses were still current and not even vintage yet. I have used almost everything over the years. The fact is this bass is better than the very old ones everybody thinks were so great and special. Most of them never really even come close to this axe. I was there and I know. This is one bass Fender got right finally. Nobody will be disappointed in it regardless of your style. Buy one and you will never look back. I just do not understand why it took an old fellow Toronto Canada player to convince Fender this was the one they missed for years. Excellent value. Yes I also own custom shop gear. This top end MIM is really that good.

I have had three American jazz bass guitars, but never tried a Geddy Lee Sinature Bass, until recently. I always thought that the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass looked ugly in pictures. That was until I got one for Christmas and I gotta say I was blown away; I mean wow. Now I know what all the fuss is about, this is one nice instrument. It is a deadly combination, and it just works so well. This guitar was assembled in Mexico but looks so good, the neck is nice, the pickups sound good, and it looks classy. It rivals American made guitars, the quality is not on par yet , but not far behind either . I love it....

I bought the 3 tone sunburst in March, so ive had it around 8 months. I really like the bass, it's a great step up from my Vintage Modified Squier. It look great, it's got a super fast neck, which is glossed over, and it plays great. No real issues at all with the build quality, it's as solid as a rock. I have 2 gripes though. I don't like how I can't easily adjust the truss rod. I have to unscrew the neck, unlike the VM where I just can from the top. My second is that the pickups can get a little noisy when the tone knob is all the way up. The buzz can get heavy. It's not noticeable when it's being played which is the main thing, but it can be a bit of a nuisance. I might invest in a set of the N3 noiseless from Fender, but I shall see what happens. Overall I think it's a great buy, just as good if not better than some of the other Amercan jazzes you get. I'd easily recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade or just an awesome bass in general.

I just got one of these Geddy Lee Jazz Basses - Sunburst a few months ago... Over the years I had tended to stay away from Fender guitars/basses, I think subconsciously due to reminding me so much of the junk basses you would always seem to find in closets, basements, wherever that would look like an old Fender, but would look dirty/rusted, bent out of shape neck, and sound dead. But while my main bass was in the shop getting set up, my bro encouraged me to try his. I really liked it and it sounded great and felt comfortable, but still I didn't pay a lot of attention. Then months later an opportunity came up to get one with a killer deal. I got it, set it up, new strings, dum de dum... holly (you know)! Besides just looking nice, it has a big growl, bottom end, very well balanced (highs, lows, frequencies), and is actually more comfortable to play than any other bass I had used before! My main bass axe before, was an Ibanez SR400 that I love. Even through the Jazz bass is a little bulkier and heavier (yes, even the neck is a little wider than my Ibanez), it just feels more comfortable and easier to play - something about that neck is just awesome for my hands. And have to admit that it does sound better as well - more growl which I like anyway. And now I can hear all my higher notes as loud and present as my low notes. So the Fender has now become my main one now. About the only thing I can come up with that the Ibanez has that I miss, is the single volume knob, with a separate knob to control the balance between the pickups, and the built in 3 band eq (which I didn't really use much anyway). Other than that, the Fender does kick its butt, so I do feel bad for it - but not too bad ;-)

I ordered this bass from this website as it was out of stock and any nearby store. I received it about three weeks. I can't say enough good things about this bass, I have been playing for over 20 years now, I've owned Gibsons, Rics, Ibanez but oddly this was my first Fender and what a great way to get into the line. I honestly don't think I'll ever play another bass, it's crazy how awesome the Jazz neck is, especially on the Geddy bass, faster neck I've ever played. I'm mainly using this bass playing instrumental metal, lots of bite.

This thing is beautiful, it really is. I ordered online after having the chance to try one in person and I was not disappointed. This is my first Jazz Bass after 20+ years of playing everything but I'm shocked it took me this long to try one. I don't think I'll ever go back now.

Wow, I'm not one that's into "signature series", but when I picked this one up for the first time... I knew I had to have it, and I did that very same day. I simply LOVE the neck. contour, maple fretboard, maple neck and the width is just amazing. It's one of my main basses in my collection.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
