I've had this guitar for 7 years and I'm still in love with it. It has a warm and full-bodied sound, and it's size makes it much more comfortable to play than a full-sized guitar. When I bought it I was looking for something affordable but high-quality and dependable, and this was way more than I ever expected. Highly recommend.

I tried a mini by accident really, I was looking for an everyday guitar. As I'm older and arthritis is a factor my long time L&M associate suggested the mini. WOW!!!! great sound, smaller scale makes it easy on an old man's hands and quality craftsmanship. The mini is now my favorite guitar. I have many other brands including Martin,American Guild,Takamine,Larivee, all great instruments but the mini makes me want to play and play

This is my second Taylor...I wanted a smaller acoustic after having shoulder replacement surgery and finding it uncomfortable to play my full sized (full depth) 114e. This little guitar is incredibly comfortable to play and, for its size, sounds AMAZING!!! It can go anywhere and play anything!!!

I was lucky enough to get the first round of the GSmini when they came out.. I have had it for a few years, its playable on a ridiculous level, comfortable, use med gauge strings, it has traveled from Ottawa to Texas and Michigan, and all points in beyween fits in all overhead compartments of planes... The ES Go pickup is very nice, get the Volume control cord also its awesome.. For the money, you can not find a better more playable fun guitar period intonated perfectly as well... Everyone of my friends that's played it all get that look on their face, and say wow what an awesome little gitbox...

I agree with most reviews here. The playability is so good it's almost shocking comparing to any full size, full scale acoustic. The one contradiction I have though is that the sound is not great, its adequate. I suppose it's expected of a smaller guitar but I have a $125.00 Denver Dreadnaught and I have to say the Denver is substantially better sounding. Never the less this is a high quality (for the money) well designed guitar I'll keep forever.

My only complaint was that the top split after three years and one of the braces came loose. It has been in the shop for 5 weeks. Even though I kept it humidified with a Planet Waves unit, the gig bag did not protect it enough from the northern dry air.

Love the size and playability of this guitar both from being able to cradle it (versus wearing it like a car) and the short scale. Sort of like playing an electric as far as being easy to bar, bend and reach. Can't say as I'm terribly impressed with the sound. It's ok but if I have a $150 Denver that has substantially better sound. All in all the playability is spectacular, the sound is adequate.

easy playing, not ebony fret board, it's rosewood. Nice ring to it, curved mahogany back must help with the volume, which is good in a small pkg. You will like it too.

Thanks to the GS mini I have started playing guitar again on a regular basis. My hands can no longer handle the stretch of a regular scale acoustic. The neck is very comfortable and allows finger picking very well. Sound is amazing coming from such a small body. Mine came beautifuly set up a plus in my book. Thanks to Taylor I can enjoy my favorite past-time again.

I bought the Koa gsmini in September 2013. Love the action, size and sound. Changed the Elixer strings that it came with to Medium Light RotoSound jumbo king 12's. The RotoSound strings sound better on the guitar, in my opinion, and are cheaper to purchase so I don't mind changing them every 30-40 hours of playing time.

I wrote a review on the left handed Sitka spruce top, but for some reason they left the review and took off the picture. The only thing I would of liked to have seen on this model would be binding on the top and back. this guitar keeps on sounding better and better.

After a 20 year hiatus, I began playing guitar again with this model and found the required medium guage strings very painful on the finger tips, but after a few months practice no more problem. My guitar is the limited edition Koa laminate back and sides with added bonus of lots of bearclaw figure in the spruce top. After breaking in, bass response and tone deepened beautifully. Fretwork is dead accurate and having an ebony fretboard at this price makes it very good value for the money. There is evidence to suggest this size body of guitar is closer to classic guitar proportions before the 20th century when acoustics became large to compete with other instruments. Included gig bag is very light weight and convenient.

For a smaller guitar it certainly has a big sound. Do not let the size and price fool you into thinking it is low end as it is far from it.

After reading an on-line review on the 25 best value guitars, in which the Taylor GS Mini won out, I headed down to the closest Long & McQuade to check it out. All I can say is that the article, and all the previous posters here, were spot on in their reviews (well, except for the guy who strayed way off topic onto power chords. Huh??) The GS Mini really surprised me in the richness and volume coming out of it. I then compared it to multi-thousand $ Gibsons and Taylors, etc, and this little Taylor stood up very well. I couldn't believe it and kept jumping back and forth between the expensive ones and this little parlour guitar. I'm glad to say that I preferred the sound and playability of this little value guitar more. My only hesitancy on grabbing it is that I'm interested in a guitar that also has a cut-away for attacking the high frets. But, man, is this GS Mini every a terrific little instrument.

Love it. Taylor quality and sound. Best guitar for the price in this category hands down. Clear brilliant sound. High highs, low lows. What more can you expect for $ 499? An excellent case too! Secures the guitar and is easy on the eyes looking sweet and modern. Finding my self watching tv and relaxing with my GS Mini. Sorry girlfriend...

I have been eyeing up the GS mini for some time, it started when a friend of mine picked one up and had nothing but rave reviews for it. Recently I picked up my own and have so far been very happy with it. The GS mini is so easy to play, it's probably one of the funnest acoustics I have ever picked up. It's feel and sound is characteristic of the Taylor brand even at it's low price point. I struggle with anyone that has given the GS mini a low score review? I have a Taylor 800 series, and no, the GS mini is not even on the same review scale as that guitar, but that guitar also costs $3000 more than my mini. So for what it is: 1) Parlour size, (it has a big sound) 2) Less than $500 (what else for this price compares?) 3) Taylor (true to brand) I give it a 10/10 for what is supposed to be.

I started to teach myself guitar in 03 at the young age of 38. Wish I had this from the beginning! Excellent ergonomics for small hands/short fingers. Low, easy action out of the box. Sound is HUGE for a smaller guitar. I really like to play on the 2 bass strings a lot. Deeper chords like EM /G and riding the open E have plenty bass for my liking. If your new or thinking about picking up guitar for the first time this one is worth saving for. Money well spent :-)

I played this a while back at L&M and was amazed buy it. I have owned a lot of acoustics say 20+, including a Taylor ga3, seagull artist studio and mosaic, a Yamaha ll16 which is a recommended guitar for sure and the list goes on. My only guitar at the moment is the gs mini spruce and I am very happy with it. Its bright like a Taylor and sounds amazing. It's very balanced and has a huge sound for a smaller guitar. Very comfy to play and the action is great day one. Im still going to bring it to my luthier and get some good electronics put in it but can not believe how fun it is to play. Highly recommended!

I have a Gibson Songwriter custom with J45 Appointments, and I recently bought this little Taylor as a second guitar (so I don't have to take my Gibson places I'm not comfortable taking it) and I am addicted to this little guitar! I have the ES-GO pickup, and pop that in a DI, sounds great! I have the spruce top with sapele back and sides and it's so LOUD. I use Medium Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 bronze with this, since it's a shorter scale. Action has stayed incredibly low. just love it. I would suggest this to almost any guitar player!

I bought this guitar in January 2013 and immediately took it with me on vacation. A breeze taking it onto the plane. The gig bag is solid and protective. It sounds great. Nice bright tone. The neck is a little smaller but still very playable. Great for sitting on the couch and noodling around while watching tv.

I was looking to buy a new acoustic guitar, I was think of paying around $600 for a nice, solid acoustic guitar. I saw this guitar hanging in the acoustic room and I thought, "This will be good for a laugh," so I grabbed it off the wall and played it. WOW, was I surprised. It sounded better and more full than my Taylor 214, and it was so comfortable. I bought it within ten minutes of playing it. I play live often and this guitar always sounds bright and projects incredibly. There is a $100 GS Mini Es-Go pickup so it can easily become an acoustic/electric. Highly recommend this guitar, it was an incredible find and is the main guitar I use for recording, playing live, and is my main guitar now. *I also recommend Medium Gauge Elixir Strings*

This 3/4 body is a gem from Taylor. The tones are buttery warm and the only fault is that it doesn't come with a hard case. Would also be nice to have a pickup installed but bought seperately and it was a breeze to put in (even for a beginner). Great little guitar with a winning sound that can't be beat for that price point. I am sold on Taylor guitars forevermore.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
