I needed a kit for practicing. It needed to feel good and responsive, and be able to sound good too. This kit has blown me away! I've had it for 4 months now, and I have no regrets purchasing it. For the price, it's responsive enough to make your practicing be able to translate to an acoustic kit without too much adjusting. As well, you can actually dial in some great drum sounds to use for recording. Thanks Mike at Saskatoon South for recommending this kit over the others I was looking at!

I bought this kit 6 months ago. I really enjoy most of what this kit has to offer. I was originally going to get the KV model, but decided to go with this one due to the noticabley cheaper price. The toms feel pretty good for rubber pads. That being said, they're still rubber. They will start to give you pain in your wrists & fingers after long use because you'll absorb a lot of the shock when you hit the pad. If your hands are prone to soreness or arthritis, get the KV model instead. The mesh snare is beautiful. I like that you can tune it to feel like a real snare or you can tune it really tight for some crazy rolls. The rack could be better. It's kind of small, but the biggest issue for me is that the toms & snare can't be raised high enough.I often hit my leg while playing because of it. The cymbal positions are excellent, though. They can be set nicely in rock or jazz positions. Also, the kit can be set up either left or right handed. I have mixed feelings about the cymbal pads. They play nicely for the most part, but they're prone to double triggering, which for me is a big issue. I like the rebound & the swing of them. They have to most realistic feel of it's price range. They swell decently, too. The bass drum is better than rubber pads that other kits have, but it's still not that good. It has a very still feeling, like hitting wood. I don't know why other people are saying it feels like a real drum. It registers dynamic hits really well. It's large enough for a double pedal, too. The module is great. Most of the stock presets are good, even better with slight modifying. It has more preset slots than you should need. The sample options are mostly good. There is a few filler sounds, which is a bit ridiculous considering the price, but most of the sounds are good. I find it fails in the high hat options, though. There's only a few high hat options, only 3 of which are usable, but will get the job done well. I enjoy all the other pad options. All the pads can be set to any sound as well, meaning you can make a Tom sound like a cymbal & vice versa. You can also set the different zones as different sounds, too. So you could set the edge of your ride to be a China. I like all the extra options, such as the metronome, the play along songs, etc. They're all useful in their own way. If you're looking for a recording & practice kit, this is way more than enough for the job. It can either record directly from the brain, or you can trigger it through a drummer software for even better quality. I use this kit for jamming with my band as well as recording our songs. I definitely recommend it for recording, practicing or learning. Overall excellent kit, very versatile. I would recommend it to someone who lives where sound is an issue. It is over priced, but that's because you're paying for quality, something you can't find in most other brands. Definitely worth a buy for a dedicated drummer.

Bought the floor model from the Guelph store. I have had this for 3 weeks now and have pounded the *hit out of them. Especially the kick drum and snare. Very responsive! The floor model came with an extra cymbal (CY-5). I use it as a China. Easily adjust the toms and cymbals to my preferred heights. It is a fast kit. I would consider myself an intermediate drummer with 14 years experience. This is well worth the money. I also bought the 2 year warranty for $100 since it was a floor model. My only complaint (and maybe because I am not used to it yet) is the hi-hat responsiveness. Especially when trying to open close really fast. You really have to take your foot off the pedal. The module is great and very easy to use. I loaded mp3 songs onto a USB stick and plugged it in and it recognized it right away. Just hit the Play Button and your songs load right up. Then you can hit Record and record yourself playing to the songs. I like to download Drumless tracks and play along. You can only keep 1 recording on the system BUT your recording saves itself onto the USB stick in a Roland folder it creates itself. Awesome! My next move is hooking the module up to my laptop and recording thru there. There is also a way to connect your phone wirelessly to the module and play songs off Spotify/whatever. I have not figured that out yet. The mesh snare is SOO MUCH better than rubber. But the rubber toms work great. I would just stick to mesh snare! Hope this review helped!

Best kit I've ever played. Sounds natural, feels natural. Feels like I'm playing a high-end accoustic kit. The hi-hat has nice rebound, as with all the cymbals and drums. Tried it in-store, I was so impressed that I might buy it someday.

I rented this kit for a month and i absolutely loved it,I was absolutely devastated when i had to bring it back but surely ended up getting one as a gift. This kit sounds amazing and had very realistic sounds. I love the fact that you can play along to your own music from a USB drive and you can customize your own kit. This is definitely worth a buy if not at least rent it you won't regret it.

Decided to rent this setup for a month while I healed from surgury.I mentioned to the sales dude that there is a good chance I would buy them (rent to own) so he brought down two boxes and said you should be able to assemble them in a couple hours...took just over an hour.Right out of the box they were good to go....I have had them now for 4 months and own them. The preprogrammed kit s sound great and what's nice is that they are fully adjustable. I tweaked a few of the factory presets just a little, but you have 30 open bays to program your own kits. All the tones are adjustable, the metronome and the coach feature are fantastic and extremely handy for practicing. Recording feature is awesome, the song loops are great, the mean snare is awesome great feel even the rubber toms feel great the cymbals are fully chokeable and the tones are like an actual cymbal the bell, edge hats are fantastic....honestly for 1200.00 these can't be beat it allows you to add on an extra tom or cymbal which I did (cymbal)I would recommend.

I've had this kit for about 5 months now and I love it! The quality is great. The versitlity in drum choices and tuning is amazing. The "Supernatural" technology is very impressive. They have a small "footprint" and can be played through a variety of sources including headphones so it's great in a condo or apartment. Whether you play as a hobby or are a serious drummer who loves to practice....whether you want to play quietly or let the whole neighbourhood enjoy your talent this kit will impress. I highly recommend it.

I was not expecting this kit to sound as great as it does. I was concerned the cymbals might lack but was very surprised at how natural I was able to get them to sound, as with the snare and toms, kick was good also. I love the ability to easily change tone , pitch , and volume of each component of this kit. I was quite easily able to achieve the natural drum and cymbal sounds that I was after. I would very much reccomend this kit.

Received this kit two days ago for my teenage daughter. Was considering the Roland TD-11KV, but it was $600 more than the TD-11K which is a little pricey for a beginner. At $999.00 the TD-11K has good sound quality and a good number of features. Can't wait to hook it to a computer and use it for laying down MIDI tracks. It seems very sturdy and should be durable. I had no experience setting up a digital drum kit and it only took me 1.5 hours. Directions were clear. Also bought a Pearl P900 - PowerShifter Single Pedal which works great. The Roland TD-11K is highly recommended for any aspiring drummer. It should be a good addition to a home studio as well.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
