A touch of a button is all it takes to conjure up to 128 combinations.

The Hughes and Kettner TubeMeister 36 guitar amplifier head offers independent gain and master knobs, as well as switchable FX Loop. In addition, Mr. Hughes and Mr. Kettner built in a MIDI system to access the three channels, FX loop and onboard reverb. It can even select the power stages of the integrated power soak (36W, 18W, 5W, 1W and Speaker Off)!

The revolutionary MIDI-controlled power soak can do some wild voicing tricks. Tap its full dynamic range by running the Clean channel at 36W and switch over to the Crunch channel in 5W mode with the Master knob wide open to get good and grungy with some grinding rhythm. Or you could run the Lead channel at 18W for some high-gain riffage and switch over in a flash to the full 36W for a screaming solo. Meanwhile, the 1W option brings the sound of the big stage into your own four walls, without any tonal compromises.

The built-in RED BOX feeds preamp and true power amp tone straight to a stage or studio mixing console. It authentically emulates the sound of a 4 x 12" cab and delivers a balanced line signal to the Speaker Out for use in rehearsal rooms, on stage, and even to pipe that sweet tube-driven sound straight into the PA. In combination with the power soaks silent recording option (Speaker Off), the RED BOX lets you lay down professional-quality tracks any time day or night. You can even feed the signal to in-ear monitors on stage without having to fuss with a cab or mic.

But thats still not all; theres also the wonderful TSC (Tube Safety Control). It is an automated system that constantly monitors and readjusts the bias to ensure power tubes operate reliably and deliver to-die-for tone, always. With the TSC, swapping tubes couldnt be any easier.

Features:
• 3 channels (Crunch, Clean and Lead)
• Switchable reverb
• Switchable serial FX loop
• 2x passive 3-band voicing section tweaked to evoke the best frequency response out
• Oversized transformers with tons of headroom
• TSC-protected power amp featuring auto-bias and status LED
• 5-stage MIDI programmable power soak with silent recording capability
• Balanced RED BOX OUT with authentic speaker emulation
• 3 12AX7 tubes
• 4 EL84 tubes

.... And master of MOST of em too! I got this used for $599 which was an absolute steal. It's feature packed even at the regular price. All 3 channels sound good. The only negative is it doesn't take pedals in front, like distortions, very well (specifically the Boss DS1: sounded like a gawd damn rabid dog gnawing on rusty sheet metal!). But stuff in the effects loop works fine. Prior to buying the 36w, I rented a TM20 Deluxe which I actually liked BETTER, especially the Lead channel which has an amazing overdrive feature, however the 20w is just so ridiculous looking atop a Marshall 4x12 that I decided to go with the larger 36w head instead. Yes, I'm a fancy-boi like that! Overall though, this 36w 3ch TM head is great bang for the buck with tones for everything from country to hard rock. Get it!

I've had this thing for almost 2 years now and It's an amazing amp. There are so many features on it, it can pretty much do anything. With the power soak, you can play a good size venue if you run it in 18 or 36W mode. If you want to use it as a practice amp, the 5 and 1W modes are perfect for that. The 3 independent channels are fantastic. The clean sounds nice and chimey with the digital reverb. The lead channel has a fantastic amount of gain and the crunch channel sits perfectly in the middle. The 2, 2-button footswitch jacks let you (1) change channels and (2) turn the effects loop and reverb on and off. Midi footswitch control of the power soak is also an option (haven't used it yet). You can play any style of music you like. Although I haven't used it yet, the red box DI is a nice touch and the tube monitoring system works fantastic. I had a bad tube right out of the box and it caught it right away. You never have to worry about matching tubes and biasing either. The all metal casing means this thing is built like a little tank. If you could only afford one amp, this one could do it all for you, from gigging to practicing and recording. It's hard to believe this thing has so many features for this amount of power at this price.

I looked at all the models, compared very carefully...This is the model that gives you the best choice to go midi or not. The reverb is controlled on the back which I like... the basic footswitch controls the channel jumping, plain and simple.. The three channels are great sounding! Clean, crunch, and lead! I paired it to a Traynor cabinet with a Celestion 12" 70/80...pulled that and installed an Eminance Cannabis Rex...much much better! Much smoother and cuts out the ice pick effect! Is it loud? Yea it sure can be! 4 x EL84's make this "Tiny Terror" rip through steel! So just select a lower output! Makes transporting for us older guys 62+ a lot easier!

I went into L&M to trade in my JCM800 because while I love the crunch and distortion I can get out of a Marshall, the cleans just weren't right. I was looking for an amp that could deliver bright and crisp cleans, with the option of some gain, as well as very punchy distortion. I mainly play punk rock with some garage and pop rock thrown in. They immediately referred me to an EVH, which definitely had the cleans I like, but the crunch was too metal. Then they said, well the H&K will be the one. Wow! Were they ever right!! I've never been so happy with an amp. I can have the brighter, crisper cleans I want, paired with a deeper and less bright crunch that truly packs a punch! I mainly play a Telecaster with a HotRails bridge pickup and use an Avatar 2x12 cab with Wizards. Incredible sound with this combination!

I've had the amp now for a little over a year. Hard to find a sound I don't like. Effects sound good in the loop or out front and the footswitch acts like a "mute all" when you aren't using the loop. I have the head and the matching 1x12 cab and am very pleased with it. Played a gig at an old hockey rink at 18W and had no trouble keeping up with the stage volume. Would absolutely buy it again. Only complaint is the price of, and need to buy two footswitches (my old Peavey stereo F/S works with it)

Very happy, i love the power soak options, although it does sound better at 36w I love that the 1 watt doesn't wreck my ears. Also for the price it comes pretty loaded, the pedal controlled reverb and fx channel are nice touches.i use them more than I thought I would.

Take the time to adjust the eq to taste, every notch is different on this beast ! Best crunch channel I've ever tried on an amp ! I have a H&K switchblade and this is a much smoother tone yet can still be aggressive when needed, through a good 212 cab the tone is very full and dynamic. Money well spent !

This amp is packed with features and you won't find most of the features anywhere else. The power squeeze works really well, but I found even with the Master Volume low I could still use full power at pretty decent levels for apartment use. Playing live this thing has plenty of power for small to medium gigs, and with the high quality line out you can pretty much do anything. I find the line out only looses a tiny bit of the crisp high end. They saved some of the top features for the Grandmeister like effects and a Noise Gate, but if you have pedals like me you won't miss those. This thing takes pedals well also. All in all, highly recommended. Only the heaviest metal players might want to consider another amp. Everyone else is in for a super smooth hi-fi ride!

Amazing features and plenty of power to gig. Plugging it into a Marshall 1960 lead and it is loud. A great performer in a small package. Just waiting for the arrival of the H and K MIDI foot controller to round it off. Any more power is pretty much a waste but the power soak features make it so easy to play in the basement without blowing off the roof

Great amp, very versatile provided played by the right player and with the aid of a pedal board perhaps. I wouldn't recommend it to certain players. This amp is responsive, not passive. If you suck, it will really suck. However, it can really bring out the best in a guitarist. I use the crunch channel without heavy gain the most, often with some of the built in reverb. Yes it can easily play a venue.

I bought this on a recommendation from an L&M employee that knows my needs. I'm coming from a JCM800 and overdrive setup so I wasn't in need of a lot of options for different tones but I found the Tubemeister very easy to use and dialling in a great tone was simple despite all of its features. I primarily use high gain sounds and spend most of my time on the lead channel. I had an ENGL for a while and this amp's lead channel remind me of the sound I got from my old Fireball however the tone is less harsh and has better mid range response which the ENGL was lacking. The clean and crunch channels are great but I don't use them too often at the moment. My favorite feature of the head is the Red Box because my band uses in-ear monitors and tapping the Red Box to our mixer is easier than mic'ing my 4X12, which incidentally I won't need much anymore since I can run it direct with the power soak on full and DI to our board.

I had this amp for about 4 days. The features were great, lots on this amp but I found there was something lacking on the distortion channels, maybe it's the shared eq. I just wasn't happy with the sound in general and returned the amp for another. It's a good amp though just not my cup of tea.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
