This product is no longer available.
Out of all of Les Pauls many achievements; inventor, guitarist, and hit recording artist, Les is most beloved among musicians for inspiring the Les Paul Standard, one of the most sought-after guitars in the world. And now, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO gives the legend a fresh start with ProBucker-2 and ProBucker-3 pickups with coil-tapping, a AAA flame maple veneer top, and beautiful new color finishes including Honeyburst (inspired by late 50s vintage Les Pauls), Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Trans Blue, Vintage Sunburst and Wine Red.

Epiphones history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the first solid body electric guitars, better known as The Log. Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar that would sustain for days and in the late 50s, the historic Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan produced the sunburst Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the PAF humbucker.

Players like Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and countless others get their signature sound from a sunburst Les Paul and now Epiphone gives you a chance to experience that one-of-a-kind tone at an affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO. The Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features ProBucker PAF-style pickups with coil-tapping, new colors and a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top for a vintage look with all the modern appointments that players expect from Epiphone.

Like every Epiphone, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO features a Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service. Be a part of history today with the Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO.

Look, I get it. Gibsons is synonymous with Prime Mahogany , Hand built products , etc.. and if anyone said that $4000 for a GIbsons is overpriced , well then they just don't understand quality. But , its just amazing that a $1000 guitar like this Epiphone actually has a good run up to the Gibsons counterpart. Unless you are some die hard virtuoso on an extreme level, its hard to spot the differences. Sure - the fretts could have been a little more rounded but its not like that alone is worth $3000 more.

Stock pickups are "ok", you may want to upgrade them in the future, The Tune-O-Matic bridge failed on mine (rattling), you may also want to upgrade it (for cheap) in the future. Really nice finish on the body. The binding on the neck is "ok", frets are a little rough on the sides of the neck. You want to change the strings right away (Gibson Brite 10-46 are absolutely awesome on this). Overall a good buy if you want a good looking Les Paul. I recommend you to try out and compare the Gibson Les Paul Faded (for 200$ more) with the 490R/T pickups.

Pros: It feels fine, it sounds nice and chunky, looks good, good weight Con: Knobs on it are bad, other parts on it seem cheap (not sure if guitar is durable over the years), G string goes out of tune easier than im use too Overall a fun, affordable guitar to play

I just bought this guitar and have only had it home for an hour. I've been playing since I walked in the door. This is a great guitar. You get 90% of a Gibson Les Paul for 25% of the Gibson price. This is guitar is made in China and guitars coming out of China in the past few years have incredible build quality. This is my 2nd Chinese Epiphone (my first was an ES-335 last year). The coil tapping feature is great and gives many different tonal possibilities. The Honeyburst finish looks fantastic. Like most Epiphones, this one required a full set up (new strings, t-rod adjustment intonation and string height. The L&M tech was able to set this up while I waited. It took about 30 mins. Couldn't be happier with this guitar. Plug this into a good tube amp and you're good to go !!

I wanted to buy an electric guitar. I tried Squire and Fender models but was getting an EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) hum. When I touched the strings or various metal parts on the guitar, the hum would go away. I actually bought two amps and three different guitars (which I was able to return to L & M with no hassles). I still could not get rid of the hum! I then realized there was a hydro transformer parked right outside my bedroom window which was probably causing the issue. Finally, frustrated, I spoke with Ryan (Long & McQuade Guelph) who painstakingly helped me with a search. I was allowed to try several different models and makes of guitars in my home to test the EMI sensitivity. Ryan's patience and understating never wavered. Just tonight I brought this model home and guess what? Hurrah! No hum and it sounds nice to boot! Kudos to Ryan and the staff at Long and McQuade for helping me find a guitar I can be truly happy with.

Really enjoying this guitar. While I haven't owned a Gibson to compare it to, this guitar has met all my expectations as far as sound and looks. Very easy to play and it looks amazing (honeyburst). Also kudos to the L&M staff in Kanata who were helpful and completely without pressure.

Just to say up front this is the nicest guitar in my collection for play-ability, tone and straight up sexiness. Fit and finish are near perfect. The Grover tuners are great, they hold the tuning perfectly for hours of hard bends. My only issues are I have some fret buzzing on the first to 3rd frets. Easily fixed with a small truss rod adjustment. Then there is the volume pot for the neck pick-up. The knob is on crooked and there seems to be a flat spot or something in the pot it's self. It's like I turn it and get nothing then all of a sudden there it is. I'm living with it for now but may seek warranty service in a month or two. I just don't want to part with it right now.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
