I have the 10" and 16" coated, beat the heck out of them, and only a bit of the batter coating wore off. No denting. I had them tuned kind of floppy too, and they didn't dent with about 40 hours of play. Tuned them high and low, and they sounded great either way. Made the stage customs sound great. I needed something well-priced, and not only was it a good value (thank you by the way) but they do sound great, have taken hours of play and wear pretty well.

They would last longer with lighter playing. I enjoy hitting hard on the drums. So the batter started to wear pretty quickly. No denting, and I had the heads on a 10" and a 16" tuned pretty low. I tuned them high and low, and they sound great in each setting. And like I said, I hit pretty hard as I'm sure lots do, and it has taken my limits and sings with it. I use bead tips.

in response to metaldrummer. clearly the ambassadors aren't the right head for you. next time do your research and choose a head more suited to your drumming style before bashing a great product

I thought I was doing myself a favor by buying these coated heads when I was getting ready to track drums and I must say... I am not impressed. I kept thinking I can't be tuning my kit wrong after all this time. Why does my Pearl drum set sound like something you would pick up from Toys R Us? I also thought maybe they just needed to be broken in a little bit but even months later my drums still sound dreadful. The true answer is that I wasn't tuning my kit wrong at all... these drum heads just suck. They make my toms sound like bongos. Plus I couldn't find a set of them and had to buy these in singles which was expensive for the bad tone I am consistently getting. I spent like 80 bucks and now I am only going to have to replace them again which kind of sucks. No matter what tone you are going for they don't stay in tune for longer than a day or two and even after using a drum tuner from top to bottom they still sound bad. That says a lot about the quality of these heads. My last set of budget clear coated attack drum heads cost about half the price of these and they would stay in tune for a few weeks before needing to be re tuned. I had a killer tone when I was using those heads so I know that these Remo heads are the source of the problem. This was my first time trying out Remo Ambassador Coated heads and will be my last. I expect more from a big name like Remo. What they did with the Powerstroke 3's was beautiful. I recommend getting those heads if you are going to go with Remo.
