To put it in a nutshell, the J-15 is simply a more sparkly, brighter, and happier J-45. Basically it's the mature J-45's kid, and it's great!

I purchased my J-15 over a year ago, this is a great guitar for the price and the sound, playability and design. The Gibson looks great, sounds great and feels great when playing, or picking. I tried the Martin D-28, a Taylor and the J-35 but the sound and feel of the J-15 hit home for me

I picked up a used one a couple months ago. Amazing sound and play-ability. Neck plays smooth! Big sound, sounds great flat picked and finger style. Beautiful look and smell! I tried a bunch within this price range, and this was easily the best one to my ears and feel.

I have had mine for about 3 months. Every time I pick it up, I am still amazed at the sound. As someone earlier pointed out.. try a few of them. I did not like the neck on the first one I tried. When I tried another one, I knew I was taking it home. Amazing sound for this price.

I am not a pro by any means but have been playing a long time and have owned many guitars Including a Martin dcpa3 (which I loved) but this thing is incredible in every way Quality is evident as soon as you open the case I have never held a guitar that was so comfortable and easy to play Sound is amazing and will only get better by the way just got it yesterday and price has gone way up Can,t go wrong with this one Also thanks to the awesome staff at L&M Bedford (whom I have dealt with for quite an while) and go above and beyond to and are always there to help

I have owned this guitar for less than a week, but I have completely fallen in love with it. The Maple neck felt perfect from the first moment I picked it up, and the American Walnut body and Sitka Spruce top provide a beautiful, unique voice. Judging from the reviews I have read, it will continue to open and sound even better as the years go by. As is typical of Gibson, the craftsmanship is flawless. It is as pretty to look at as it is to play!

What beauty! This guitar plays and sounds as good as it looks. What a deal from Gibson for one of the best guitars I've ever played. The neck plays like butter and the action is just right. Great combo of woods for a unique sound.

Sadly, some previous posters have overlooked the Overall Rating, which doesn't give an accurate rating on this amazing guitar. Go out and try one, and let your ears and heart make the decision. I've received the 2016 Gibson J-15 almost a week ago, which I ordered and purchased from L&M on Lajeunesse in Montreal (amazing and knowledgeable staff!). All I can say is : this is THE best guitar I've ever acquired among the other 4 acoustic guitars I own. This is a work of art that will please all 4 of your 5 senses. Every inch of this guitar is beautifully built, the gloss is perfect. Plays great out of the box (action height is a very personal choice so you may need to have it adjusted by a luthier). The slim neck and the short scale fretboard is the most comfortable. The J-15 has a sound of it's own and I love every single note that comes out of it. It already sounds great, and the more it will be played, the guitar will open up over time. 3 senses have been covered above... And Gibson didn't stop at that as a 4th sense is also targeted; wait until you open the guitar case for the first time and be seduced by the smell of Vanilla. Yes, you read it right, it does smell like Vanilla! Just a head's up: among the great goodies that are found in the guitar case, there is no Truss Rod Wrench provided. I have inquired with Gibson Customer Service, and they confirmed the following: "Gibson Montana does not include a truss rod wrench with their new instruments. Gibson recommends having a trained guitar tech do any adjustments to the truss rod." I guess this applies to Acoustic instruments only, as my SG came with a Truss Rod Wrench. The guitar case is well built and will last for years to come. This guitar is a keeper.

Walnut is looks beautiful and sounds awesome. It was used by guitar Luthiers who handbuild guitars for years. With the price of mahogany almost triple the price it was a few years ago making it close to the price of rosewood.Guitar companies are looking for North American Woods like Maple,Cherry, and Walnut.Gibson is using it on their J15. I went to buy a J45 which was on sale so price wasn't a factor even the a couple who were playing Martins turned their heads The only reason they can sell so cheap because it grows in Canada and America. Seagull now has a walnut line which includes a 12 string acoustic/electric which is my next guitar

I was looking at the J-45 and Martin D-28. This guitar sounds like a blend of both those guitars. Beautiful to play. And when you compare price, great on the wallet. Big sound unplugged. The only one thing I don't like about the guitar is the mini Grover Tuning. My Les Paul has the regular Grovers. I find them pretty small having large hands. But other than that. I find this guitar amazing, my love playing it too.

I've checked this guitar out for a few weeks, along with all the high end guitars L&M have in their room. i've always come back to this particular one. The price is REALLY surprisingly low, as it holds up to all the others I played. I had to buy it. It (walnut) definitely sounds fabulous. It'll really compliments my Taylor (spruce) and Martin (mahogany). I'm betting this Gibby's going to be going UP in price before long. GREAT price, for a great quality product.

I've had my J15 for about 6 month. This guitar has renewed my love of playing acoustic. The action and accuracy make the guitar enjoyable to play. It projects the sound and has a warm right tone. And the walnut is abolutly eye catching. Although it's still quite expensive, the quality and craftsmanship does show. Worth every penny and sure to continue to be my favorite for years to come.

The J15 is an amazing Gibson for the money...to my ear, I found the overall tone to be more balanced than the J29 or the J35, but strings can have a lot to do with that. Nonetheless, for this price, this is an amazing deal for a purebred Gibson. I have a feeling that these will only go up in price and are probably going to have their own following down the road. The walnut is absolutely stunning. Great sounding guitar that I'm proud to keep alongside my Taylors and Martins. Definitely makes me want to add another Gibson or two to the collection.

I purchased the J15 after trying a couple. The first one had a high action or the bridge was not set up right it also hurt my fingers after about 30 minutes of play. The second on I tried was perfect great action good setup not a flaw on it and I can play it for hours on end. Its a Keeper.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
