Nova System
This product is no longer available.
Nova System is the complete, floor-based effects solution for the dedicated guitar player who knows quality when he sees it. Its unique inclusion of an all-analog programmable distortion/overdrive section under preset and expression control makes it the perfect choice whether you want to trim down your rack setup, step up from your pedal patchwork or simply just want the ultimate combination of operational simplicity and audio superiority.

Add to this an array of effects taken straight from the king of floor-based processors; G-System and you have top-notch compression, EQ, noise gate, modulation, pitch, delay and reverb right at your feet. All you need is a guitar and an amp and youre good to go first class.

Genuine, Analog Drive Circuit
What makes Nova System so remarkably different is the NDT - Nova Drive Technology - a unique, new drive and distortion circuit that gets you the best of both worlds: World-class analog distortion and overdrive with digital control. This is the real deal no modeling. While the NDT is 100 percent analog and physically separated from the digital effects, its control potmeters are digital. This way you can tweak, store and recall as many drive settings as you want - you can even hook up an expression pedal and control the amount of distortion in real-time. Its wide gain range covers your every need from light breakup to heavy distortion.

Top-notch Effects
Equipped with TC branded quality effects from delays and reverbs to compressor, EQ and modulation, Nova System is the obvious all-in-one solution for any guitarist who wants setup simplicity without sacrificing tonal fidelity. All neatly programmable and storable in 60 user presets. Its 30 factory presets give you a demonstration of just what this unit provides; great sound quality and an immense versatility of effects combinations all designed to get you started right out of the box.

I’ve used a TC Nova System for about a decade now, having compared it to the best offerings from Boss, Line 6, and Zoom at the time of purchase. It won out, because it offered granular control of studio quality effects. And it still does, it sounds unbelievably good. My Boss unit at the time sounded like a tot in comparison. Where the Nova System loses out is its ease of use. Once you get to know it, it makes perfect sense, and is very well thought out. But it takes some time to get there. And perhaps even more importantly, it is critical to get the gain staging setup right. If you get this wrong, you’ll hear the dreaded tone suck. If you get it right crystal clear perfect bypass. If you are someone who can do with only a handout of effects, but expects them to be of meticulous quality, and will want to tweak them to perfection, give this quirky thing a try. It was the right purchase for me, and has aged very well.

I wrote another review on this web site stating no service in Canada for this product. It turns out the repair department made a mistake, and they do in fact have a repair center in Kitchener, Ontario. I gave "Quality" three stars as I had problems with the unit 2 years ago which I fixed by pushing in the PROM chip. The unit is now 5 years old and freezes after booting. Otherwise, the quality is excellent; switches and knobs are very smooth and sturdy, and sound quality is great. I don't know if it was fixed in newer units, but there is about a quarter of a second lag when changing presets, which has to be managed when playing.

TC Electronic no service in Canada! My Nova System freezes after booting. I opened a Service Request Case which was handled by TC-Helicon. They suggested I contact three repair companies, all in the USA. I called all of them, none ship from/to Canada. NO SERVICE!!

This is a multipedal different from the others. You don't get a wide range of effects simulating different pedals. Instead you basically get the TC Electronic version of each individual pedal. If you like TC Electronic, you will love this pedal. The Nova System does not have any amp sims so you just get effects. The Nova System will give you great tone and the builtin patches are pretty good. The Nova System can be operated in patch mode or in pedal mode which gives you control over the individual pedals. The best feature of the pedal is the analog drive. I don't know of any other multieffect pedal in this price range that has an analog drive. The worst features of this pedal are that it is difficult to switch between patch mode and pedal mode and there is no USB port which makes if difficult to create new patches. There are workarounds for this but they are cumbersome. Overall, this is an excellent multipedal that will give you great tone. It's a good addition to every guitarists toolbox.

Pros - decent effects - small package - well built Cons - awkward to setup - hard to toggle on/off pedals mid patch - want a G switch - Distortion does fine heavy distortion, but fails at mild crunch. - no send/return - no 4 cable method - bypass sucks tone and signal - no looper - no wah - boost is not additive - can only have an expression pedal OR a accessory switch, not both
