We were in need of somewhat discreet stage monitors in a smaller church. XLR input and small size and independent volume control perfectly fit the bill. We run these at 1/3 volume, using mix sends from an A&H QU-24 and the musicians are quite satisfied with the sound. We did need to make custom bases and also chose to raise them off the floor. So far the use of three independent mixes has not yet muddied the room sound (problem we have had on all other monitors) Two small items: would love to have front grills to protect the speaker cones and perhaps pre-drilled/threaded mount screws. Still unsure if we need more power, but so far they are providing exactly what we hoped for, and independent volume is nice. Once the mix is done, the musicians can easily control max volume if needed as not all have apps for the QU :)

I tried several monitors before buying these, Presonus Eris 4.5, Cerwin Vega XD5, and another Tannoy, Reveal 502. At first, I liked Presonus and found that they did not colored the entire sound. Then I tried Cerwin Vega and was very disappointed with their midrange. Tannoy 502 were very pleasant but a little bit too expensive for my current needs and budget. Reveal 402 were just what I needed: well balanced sound, no external vibration on the cabinet, quite large sweet spot, very good treble and surprisingly good bass for a 4" speaker. With an acceptable price. I installed them quite close to my PC monitor and a small hiss can be heard when they are on, but this is forgotten the moment the music start coming through these small but very powerful monitors. They are very, very loud at the distance I use them. Reveal 402 are connected through TRS 1/4" cables to my Focusrite 2i2 and through (supplied) 1/8" cables to my computer's sound card so not only I can monitor my work but listen to my or the reference music directly from my computer, which is very handy. The only detail I don't like is that all the commands are on the back panel because the speakers are in fact two separated units. So I set the volume to about a quarter of max and control the output either from my Focusrite or PC sound car, depending what I do.
