Songsmith Acoustic 12-String Guitar
This product is no longer available.
The S&P Songsmith delivers incredible value, impeccable craftsmanship and a sound that will inspire players and fledgling songwriters to get that tune inside of their heads out to the masses.

Available in both dreadnought and folk size models, the Songsmiths feature wild cherry back and sides along with Select Pressure Tested solid spruce tops delivering a very responsive and well balanced sound. The procedure of pressure testing each top insures that only the best quality tops will be chosen for their high level of stiffness and rigidity, which translates to an optimal level of harmonic vibration in the top. The comfortable necks on the Songsmiths are made from silver leaf maple and feature the new Integrated Set neck system, which adds increased stability through varying changes in climate.

Proudly made in Canada.

I was on the hunt for a twelve string acoustic for a couple of years and tried many from a fairly wide price range. The day I tried this one out it went home with me. I've had it for a couple years and I'm still in love with it.

This is the best 12-string guitar that I have ever played. Big beauty rich clear tones. The playability is amazing and it has great volume and tonal balance. I've played many other 12-strings at 3-6 times the price, but this is the one I prefer. Well done Simon and Patrick!!!!!

This is a superb, professional quality guitar. It is incredible value for the price. All of the superlatives on this page from other reviewers are true. Canada, Quebec, makes the best guitars in this league. It has a very bright, joyous sound. It is not my first 12 string, and I note that one does not need to exert the additional effort, sometimes struggle, to the degree that I recall on my previous, making sure all strings are tight on the fret, etc., compared to a six. If someone had a 12 string at twice the price, that was nice, they would still want this one in their collection for its exemplary personality, quality, and tone. You just can't beat this guitar, and you will be very proud to own it. You will love it all the more for the reasonable $$, because it's tops.

Amazing guitar, the sound is exceptional. I rented this one and then went and bought it. Have played many other 12 string guitars some more expensive and some less expensive. I would take this one over the more expensive guitars every time.

I've been spoiled by having 72 Norman B-20 12st. Nicest playing thing of any guitar I've played. So when I was looking for a new 12st the bar was set pretty high. Dropped by L&M In Oshawa and played this S&P and immediately fell in love with it. I'm a professional recording artist with 18 albums to my credit and I own a Lot of guitars. But this beauty is just amazingly playably, sounds lush and performs like a sports car. I recommend it highly, especially at this price. Can't go wrong.

I've been playing guitar for 35+ years and have played many but from the moment I picked up this little Canadian gem I was hooked. As a matter of fact I have completely ignored my favorite Fender. It has a bright joyous sound and the neck fits comfortably in my meat hooks lol. If you are looking for an excellent instrument you cannot go wrong with this lil beauty

I have been playing guitar for 35 or so years. I am not a professional, nor do I play particularly well. I am just a casual player that enjoys playing simple chord songs once in a while. That said, this is my first 12 string guitar. I found it very easy to play because the neck is very similar to 'normal' acoustic width. Anyway, it sounds great and there were no problems at all with the product. One thing I was impressed with was that it came with graphtech nut and saddle, which I was not expecting in what some people call a 'low end' guitar.

I got mine preowned for 250$ with hardshell case what a steal. This compares to my vintage Framus 12 string for sheer volume. The overtones are amazing. I can't say I've ever bought a guitar this nice for so little. Mind blowing the quality for value. You could pay thousands for equal sound and the playability. ....if you're new to the 12 string don't look further. This is one instrument I hope stays with me awhile.

I've had this guitar for about 2 months now, and I can't stop playing it! Yes, this guitar has a nice, balanced sound but what sold me was it's playability. Probably the thinnest neck on any 12-string I played, and with low action (out of the box!) makes for easy playing. If you're looking for a 12-string in this price range, I strongly recommend you audition this model.

I got this guitar today for $420 and it's great! It plays nice and feels comfortable enough. Plus it feels quiet durable. I'm sure this guitar can take some banging around. The only imperfection I can find on this guitar is that some of the dots of the top of the neck are a little mis shapened. Not really a big deal though. Overall this guitar is great.

I played the Yamaha 12 hanging on the wall next to S&P. The S&P sounded so much better! A great clean and full sound. Play hotel California..tears in heaven....patience...fast car...dead or alive....life by the drop...etc...this guitar sounds great.

I always wanted a 12 string guitar. I rented this model for a month to try it out. I knew from the first time I sat down and played it that I would buy it. The perfect action made it so easy to play and the sound was spectacular. The construction of this heavy guitar is reassuringly solid, important in a 12 string. The craftsmanship of this S & P is, as usual, first class. Despite its modest cost, the "hand made" feel of this instrument is refreshing in an age of mass production in other continents. I long since purchased this guitar and have no wish to replace it. Play it softly and it sounds like a piano, play it loud and it will fill your room with that unmistakable chorus of those 12 strings. Love it!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
