Fernando Sor's studies for guitar were made famous by Andres Segovia. While collecting, reviewing and reorganizing educational and concert repertoire for the guitar, Segovia selected and revised twenty of Sor's studies for part of his book of etudes. This selection helped consolidate introductory repertoire for learning the guitar, which had been somewhat unorganized prior to Segovia's work. The studies in this book are from the pre-Romantic era and lay the groundwork for developing technique and musicianship.
