Yes, I can hear the difference between my D35 and my D16... but for some reason when I want to relax, I pick up the 16.

I just purchased this guitar and I can't say enough about it. The sound is deep and clear with no buzzing of any kind. When I was shopping for a new guitar, I was looking for something specific, and this guitar has met the criteria. It's good for rhythm but excellent for flat picking.

A beautiful sounding and rich guitar. I had wanted a Martin for many years and picked this one up and fell in love. Competes easily with my L’arrive and offers incredible bang for the buck.

Bought this about 7 yrs ago at LM when it was almost half the price. The sound just keeps getting better. . . or maybe that's me. . . But I think it's the guitar. Highly recommended

I just bought this guitar 2 weeks ago at L&M in Peterborough. This past week Jamie at the Peterborough store installed a K&K Pure Sound pickup for steel string guitars. This the best sounding, easiest playing acoustic guitar I have ever owned! I can't say enough about the sound of this guitar and the service provided by the Peterborough store. Thanks to John Ellis, Darryl Guy, Michelle Hanlon and Jamie Bridgeman for all your help.

I bought mine brand new a little over 5 years ago. When I was in high school 45 years ago a friend of mine bought a D18 and I just loved it. However, all I could afford at the time was an Ovation Balladeer. So when my son, who plays a Taylor, told me that I should buy myself a "real, all wood" guitar, I started checking out what was out there. I narrowed my choices to a Larrivee D03, Seagull SWS Rosewood, Taylor DN3 and the Martin D16GT. All great sounding guitars. However, what sold me on the Martin was its loud voice and rich full sound. I even compared it to a D18 that was hanging there and I couldn't tell the difference soundwise. Five years later, the sound has really opened up and I'm still in love with it.

I was reading about the reviews on this guitar and went and tried it. OMG the reviews were spot on. I was looking at a Gibson but I'm glad I bought this on. The highs.. Lows.. Sustain cannot be beat for the price I paid. The playability is awesome.. My fingers thank me.. Lol. I think my playing will improve so much because I can't put it down plus the neck and setup were spot on. I highly recommend if you are on a budget.. I can't say enough about this guitar.. I love it..

I spent 2 months visiting guitars shops on my noon hours without a certain brand in mind. I was leaning towards Taylor as I have small hands but by chance I picked up the D16-GT in a couple stores and the more I played it the more I feel in love with this guitar. A year and a half later I couldn't be happier with my choice. Top quality construction, sound and value.

I didn't think there was a martin I could afford with that legendary sound, however, once I played this one at the store and noticed the price tag, I was sold. I have had it for about 6 years and its sounds better then ever. I cracked the side paneling in 2 places but had them repaired with glue and it still sounds perfect!

I spent about 2 months playing different guitars searching for a specific sound. I had actually decided to buy a Larivee D-02. The day I went in to pick it up there was a guitar I had not seen before hanging on the rack. A Martin D-16GT. After the first strum I knew this was the sound I had been looking for. Rich and full bass tones and bright and clear highs! Even my friend who plays an HD-28 was blown away by the sound. Plus, it is beautiful looking. The grain on the solid spruce top is tight and the mahogany on the back, sides and neck has a unique look to it that makes it stand out from other guitars. An amazing rich balanced tone and stunning good looks makes this a guitar that I will keep for a lifetime!

Did extensive research on getting a new acoustic under a budget & found this gem of a guitar. Good volume, bright tones, mellow bass, doesn't have all the bells & whistles of the standard models but sits at a great price. Great guitar!

This guitar is fantastic. The perfect balance of highs and lows. Better than my HD28V and my OM-21. I can't put it down. Compared to some others I own that are 3X the price, I seem to always pick this one up.

This is the 000 version of the D-16GT. L&M doesn't have this model listed on there site, but is available in store. Very impressed with this 000 16 series guitar! Big voice, nice woody tone & sustain that goes on forever! Set up from factory was spot on as well. Great guitar for the price! Try one out & you'll see why!!!

I used to play a lot in the 60's, bought a 1975 Ovation but got away from steady strumming for a lot of years. I was going to buy a Mexican Martin until the fellow in the shop here in Kingston On showed me this used 2005 D 16, end of decision making, this is a gem. Not one scratch or blemish, guy traded it in on a D 28 and I'm happy he did, great axe for me. I'm slowly breaking in my fingers again but the action is great and 10 minutes a day helps a bit. I highly recommend this guitar!

Try it and you will appreciate the great tone and incredible volume for a guitar of this price! I love the size and the feel of it...easy on the fingers. Stays in tune for long times in the case or long jam sessions. I have tried several guitars of nearly double the cost and cannot see where spending the extra money is justified. Since I own it I may be a bit biased, but many of my playing buddies have made the same comments.

A bit surprised by just how incredible the deep tones in a guitar priced this low for a Martin. Do not let the price let you think less of this guitar. All you have to do is pick it up and try it. You will know just what I am talking about.....!!!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
