Last year, purchased the MDR7506's bigger brother, the MDR7510. While it appears this model's not offered any more, I've seen the MDR7506 arround enough to give my 2-cents worth. Like the ....7510, the MDR7506 has a telephone-cord (coil) like connection cable. While that might turn off some people, it does reduce the bird-nesting I suffer with my ~1m Sennheiser HDyyy cans. Indeed, just like my unit, it comes with a service manual. That's rare, and it encourages me to repair my unit (instead of just tossing it into the dumpster). I can vouch for their noise-isolating abilities (as it lets me listen to stuff without bothering my spouse [happy wife, happy life]). The HD7506 can fold up ? that's one reason why I shyed away from it and went with the pricer MD7510 (I suspect their audio quality's identical for my needs). The MDR7506 (and my ...7510 for that matter) are FAR EASIER TO DRIVE than my Senheisser HD650 clones. Why did I take (0.5 + 0.5) off: they're NOT sylish & are 100% rugged plastic (heh heh). For home use & pro-semi-pro applications, I think it's a solid choice.

I prefer my MDR-7506 headphones over my ATH-M50s or Sennheisers for the studio. I also use a Sonarworks plugin for calibration

Amazing sound. Good build. I have owned 500 dollar headphones that don't do as good a job all around. I have seen 10k mix stations and amps driving these cans. For a reason. Clarity, quality and price.

These headphones are an industry standard monitor for a huge amount on studio, radio and movie sets all over the world. They work well in almost every situation and sound equally as good plugged into a recording console, a computer, or a smart phone. The design is almost 25 years old which tells you something about how good they really are. I have three sets, one is over 20 years old and the only issue is long term wear and tear on the ear cups. Otherwise they sound as good as my newer sets which are 3-5 years old. My advice, if you are looking for a high end headphone, these should always be in your list to compare to others, then make the choice based on your ears. To not include these in your sample is your own fault!

Not as shown but great sound. For better comfort, the ear cups should be a little bit larger.

I ordered these headphones online, and boy was I surprised by the quality for the value. I know they're for studio monitoring, but I've just currently been using them to listen to music on my ipod and the sound quality is outstanding! My favourite part about these headphones is probably the sound isolation. Even without anything playing, these headphones strongly muffle out the world around you, and don't count on hearing anything at all while listening to music. They leak very little sound on the highest volume, and the earpads suction comfortably to your head for long periods of use without discomfort. I purchased these headphones to use with my PS4 when it is released, and I can already tell I won't be disappointed! Highly recommend!

Comfortable thin drivers, very portable and lite weight. Good construction, does not make sounds when moving your head. Very good cord, coiled cord is very flexible. 3.5mm to 1/4inch TRS adapter screws on. The sound is amazing, clear sound with great bass and rumble you can feel. Headphone's came with a repair manual, very cool.
