This is a great guitar for one wanting a Les Paul. I looked at the standard but I am glad I made this choice. I fell in love with the original classic!- glad to have it in my collection. Plays super smooth, sounds amped up. This guitar will rock, and if you are a serious musician you need a serious instrument.

I was on the fence a long time about owning a les paul. I always wanted one, but the price tag often discouraged me. I hadn't really met one in my 30 years of playing that really grabbed me. After working with a trusted L&M employee to help narrow down what I was looking for, I test drove a few and ended up with this guitar and have been very pleased with it. I was looking for a "bare bones" les paul.... I didn't want any fancy wiring, robot tuners or anything like that. I just wanted the key elements that make a les paul what it is. This is that guitar. The finish is gorgeous, and I actually prefer the plain top. It still has a very pronounced grain that is quite nice. I've found the pickups to be very versatile, and I'm still discovering the great tones this thing is capable of. The sound is amazing, and exactly that classic Les Paul tone I've wanted. I find the slim taper neck comfortable. The HS case and included photo of the guitar on the tech's desk at Gibson is a nice touch. The only reason this guitar is not receiving perfect marks from me is that it had a wiring flaw and a cracked pickup ring. L&M took care of both issues immediately, but makes me question the QC at Gibson. Also the price tag is pretty extravagant, but the guitar has been worth it for me.

This is my second Les Paul and is my favorite one by far. I also own a Custom...which I didn't really enjoy playing all that much. The Custom is definitely eye candy but the neck felt to me like a baseball bat. Especially since I have Strat's and Tele's in the arsenal as well. But along comes the Classic and it's fantastic! The perfect size neck for me, very much like a Fender. And the Classic growls like a badass Les Paul should. The fit and finish is absolutely superb. It would appear that Gibson definitely got its act together for 2016. This is a guitar players Les Paul. And the price point is where it should be. Do it...you know you want to!

Beautiful LP with all the appointments (less the AAA top) Just a bit more than a Studio and looks/feels much nicer. I AB'd with a Standard but liked this better. Awesome sound, very smooth sounding pickups. Not muddy at all. Surprisingly loud compared to similar amp settings with a single coil guitar. Been waiting to get an LP for a while. This is definitely the one for me.

I'm super impressed with what is essentially a bare bones Traditional. Aesthetically you get a less impressive plain maple cap as opposed to AAA flame and in my case it is one solid piece as opposed to the two halves you'd normally get (which I like). Personally I like the look better overall as I find the flame top too busy at times. The fit and finish are superb. The tone is killer and I find the neck shape super nice to play. I'm not a fan of the zebra pick up look but at the end of the day who cares. I find the sound to have a very smooth and balanced brighter Les Paul tone that can darken up and sculpt real nicely with tone control adjustments. The tonal palette is overall really really nice.I think they have a real winner here. I'm quite pleased. If the other units are as nice as the one I ended up with I gotta say they're hard to beat. For the record I didn't buy this guitar for the features. It's a Les Paul. I expect it to be featureless.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
