this guitar is built for discovery, the small body and the neck is perfect to improve and figure things out, you can start hearing new tones and harmonics love the bass too i use my thumb a lot when i play it's the kind of thing that you could not hear from a cheap guitar or a guitar in the same price range, i'm not saying you should take this guitar to the studio and record your tracks with, which i think you can totally do if you have some solo acoustic minimal stuff, but its the perfect guitar to just lay back and play and come up with songs with, and its the perfect guitar for your travel pack love this guitar, well done.

Great value guitar. It lacks the bottom end and overall volume of a full sized dreadnaught when it's unplugged, I assume because its more shallow & 15/16 the size. That being said, I've owned mine for 4 years and still play it all the time. Very comfortable and a great sounding guitar for the price. I bought the BBTe which came with a built in EQ & onboard tuner...I don't like the tuner and still use a clip one when I need one, but I love the EQ and the guitar sounds great plugged it. recommend it.

I went into the store looking for a different guitar entirely, and this was a used unit sitting in a floor stand. When I say used, it was in perfect condition, including the set up and action. I picked it up and was completely blown away by the playability and especially the sound and it had the grungiest strings I'd ever seen. Changed them as soon as I got home, and it sounded like a fulll sized Taylor. I have arthritis in my hands so some of the more active pieces are a challenge on my Ovation, but the Big Baby is perfect for stretch and barre cords and has renewed my enjoyement in playing. I pick it up at least a couple times a day, just to play a tune or noodle. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Great starting and sounding guitar. Action can be on the high side and varies from guitar to guitar. [editor note: since guitars are wooden, the action (string height) can change with changes in temp/humidity. This is why Long & McQuade offer a free guitar check-up/adjustment with every guitar purchase. We're happy to set it up just the way you like it. Just contact your local store to inquire.

Even though the big baby isn't a full size guitar, still satisfied the way of variation of colours can be done to it. Very bright and elegant sound. Would recommend for someone looking a comfortable and quality mid range guitar.

This guitar is amazing. It has a very rich tone. I played several, more expensive Taylors in the store but I kept coming back to this one. So I bought it and put an L.R. Baggs M1a in it and it's perfect for live!

I've owned this guitar since the fall of 14. I loved it from the start but with a perfect set up and some ebony bridge pins, this thing is unbelievable. After spending yesterday afternoon working on 3 really nice and expensive acoustics, all of which were all solid, high quality woods, I came home and in the evening pulled out my BBT. I wanted to compare it to the others while still fresh in my memory. I was expecting it would be comparable. I was actually quite shocked it sounded honestly better than all of the others including a $4000 Gibson. Even with Elixers that have been on for over a year. In fairness, they were all finger style guitars and the BBT is a dreadnaught - which suits my style better. The others all looked beautiful but I'd take the BBT from a purely sound and playability perspective every day. I have never purchased anything in my life that I have been happier with than this guitar. There is something special about these guitars. Tip for everyone. Make sure your saddle fits very snug or you could be losing tone and volume. A quick fix is using aluminum foil tape as a shim.

I'm in my early 50's and just getting serious about guitar now after a lifetime of false starts and frustration. I have a excellent quality steel string acoustic and a near vintage electric so I bought this to keep things interesting and to practice barres and complicated fingerings as it's a little easier on the fingers and helps the 'stretch'. I am very impressed by the quality of the wood, fittings and sound. The smaller body means I can play it anywhere. If you are looking for an awesome guitar at at great price point -- and in Canadian Dollars -- this is a sweet deal!

I first owned a full size OS by Washburn. I was learning to play but not comfortable.. I gave it up for a little while than picked it up again. I decided I wanted to learn and be comfortable doing it so I started looking for a solid guitar and found the big baby at L&M.. Not a out of lefts to pick from .I did find others that was OK and cheaper but this guitar spoke to me as soon as I picked it up and I kept going back to it. I bought it that day and haven't put it down,my wife is soon going to AL Cabong me!! LOL I have learned so much so far I even play along with friends at party's pretty comfortably.like I said it feels so comfortable and doesn't look to small. It comes with a nice Taylor gig bag but I also found a good snug fitting hard shell case yorkville yac-6ha. Buy this guitar you will love it!

I've been playing guitar as a hobby for decades and my old, cheap acoustic just wasn't cutting it. I ve been looking for a decent, affordable upgrade for some time. I've read hundreds of online reviews and I was struck by how consistently high the ratings are for the Big Baby. Then I tried one at L&M. After strumming it once, I immediately understood why this guitar is rated so highly. The volume and sustain were noticeably better than anything else in the showroom, regardless of price. I didn't buy one that day, but it haunted me for weeks while I kept shopping and I eventually came back and picked one up. Some people complain that it's too bright and lacks low end, but I've read reviews from long time owners who say it just sounds better and the lows develop with age. In terms of playability, I've never felt a nicer neck and the Taylor neck design makes it easy to reach the high frets. The setup was immaculate and I wouldn't change a thing. If you are looking for an amazing sounding acoustic guitar and you aren't shopping for fancy looks or gimmicks, you owe it to yourself to try the BBT. Even if your budget is $1000 or more, you might find this is your best bet.

After reading and watching most all the reviews, specs and demos of this guitar as well as trying out the Baby and GS Mini in store - I decided to order the BBT. I felt good about making the right decision because ALL reviews and demos were positive. I was expecting a Plain Jane, good quality, good playing and sounding instrument. Well my expectations have been greatly surpassed. It even looks better than I thought it would. Out of the box the string height @ the 1st and 12th, relief and intonation were all spot on. And once in tune it sounded amazing. The neck and frets are beautiful and the tuners work real nice. It is a little smaller than I thought it would be but it is perfect for me. And the sound is big, lacking only in bottom end perhaps. In my opinion, this is one of the best if not the best acoustic guitars for under $500. Zero bells and whistles, all performance. A great value for the money for sure. Try one out yourself.

The size is perfect. For those who place electric, it will feel like home. Holds tuning very well, even when jumping from tuning to tuning. Rich lows and bright highs. Trimmed down to the basics for looks and finish, but the sound is where its at. Seriously worth every penny.

Awesome guitar for a low price. Sounds like a Taylor is expected to...deep lows...beautiful highs and penetrating mids. Fingerpicked or strummed this guitar is a real winner. Great projection. If you can get your hands on one you will not want to let it go! I tested at least 100 guitars myself before buying. This is possibly the best guitar for the money on the planet!

My son bought this guitar last week. He is 9 years old and owns an electric guitar as well. This is his first accoustic guitar. He purchased this one mainly because it fit him perfectly, a full size body was just a tad too big and awkward for him. This Taylor not only felt right for him but sounded beautiful. The highs were bright and the lows incredible. Overall this guitar is excellent value for the money $440! The staff at Long & McQuade were awesome, patient and very friendly. Their accoustic guitar room is worth checking out at their Pickering location. My son got to try many guitars before choosing the Big Baby. The sound of this Taylor is rich, I am sure he will have this guitar for many years!

I walked into L&M expecting to drop at least 600-800 dollars on a decent acoustic. Along comes this thing, great quality, beautiful wood grain and scent, and it's a Taylor, too. The action's great, the sound is nice and bright, and I didn't even hesitate to jump on the 400 dollar used one they had in stock.

I've owned this guitar for 1 year now. Before I bought it, I went to different stores looking at both new and used guitars and played dozens and dozens for about 3 months before dropping any $$$. The guitar: For $400 there is no guitar that comes close to what your getting here: 1. Sound quality and projection beats all the other guitars in this price range 2. I'm 5'9" with medium hands and body and this 15/16th scale size is perfect for me. Much more comfortable than a full size, or grand auditorium--even though it's only 1 inch smaller 3. Basic dreadnaught design delivers best sound quality 4. The looks are ok...reminds me of an old style, standard guitar made in the 1800s 5. Comes with Elixer Nano-web strings 6. When you look at the guitar you think, "this is $400+?" But when you play it, or hear the sound, it matches up against any guitar in any higher price category. For beginners like me--we'll I'd say I'm pretty advanced now (only been playing for 1.5 years) this is the perfect guitar to learn on. For experienced players who own multiple guitars, they should all own one of these to be used for travel so they don't damage their precious $3000 Martin, higher end Taylor, or Laramie guitars. 7. Everyone I know that owns a guitar over $1000-1500 that has tried out my guitar is amazed at the sound and playability of this Big Baby. They are shocked to hear that my guitar only cost $400 and always say the same thing..., "sh!t, I should get one of those" Conclusion: If your looking for an expensive looking guitar--this is not the right choice. But if you need something that plays a million times better than any other entry level guitar, I recommend you play this at your local music shop before spending money on other inferior products. The jusp from $300 for a yamaha, or ibenez to $400 for this gem is well worth the extra few bucks! This guitar looks, smells and plays great!!!

The most responsive and playable acoustic I've used in 30+ years. Slightly plain Jane but who cares? Its about the music, not the decorations. The slightly rounded back is comfortable and adds great projection. The tone is magic. Has great "personality". A gift to have this quality at this price.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
